Independent STAR riding levels were the first to compete in our spring week 3 theme, the Garden Planting Game 🧑‍🌾. Riders needed to do lots of good lining up with the barrel and reaching to pick up their bean bag “seeds”, then carry them around the arena to toss into their hoop “garden” to see how many seeds make it in, and who can most evenly space their seeds around their whole garden 🌱

When you have 3 riders in class who all need to make up a completely different lesson activity within the same class time…there is a lot going on at once! They managed to avoid any collisions as they cross-crossed and zig-zagged all around and past each other to navigate multiple obstacles, deliver eggs, and identify horse colors.

More creative story writing with “Spring Trail Ride” Mad Libs! 📝 You can just see the wheels in their brains turning to think of all those nouns, verbs, and adjectives! 🤔💭

Advanced class wrote their spring silly Mad Libs story cooperatively, alternating coming up with words between longer stamina-building rounds of trotting, and all the other usual silliness built in. They really cracked themselves up with their end result, presented by their faithful volunteer Cherlyn! (Story at the end!) 📖🤣

Into the third week of April, and more Easter eggs still needed to be delivered to their baskets! 🪺 Figuring out how to hold and balance the spoon with the egg while also managing the reins is quite a challenge in multitasking, focus and coordination!

More inspired ideas for silly spring stories with all the unique vocabulary these young ladies came up with! 📚 Their volunteers all gave me a hard time for making them brush back up on their own language arts skills, remembering the difference between nouns, verbs, and adjectives 🤣 What can I say, still a teacher and an English nerd at heart 🧑‍🏫

We are SO THANKFUL that the rain held off this morning for organized by the Orrville Area United Way! Our volunteer work crew of 3 from Smucker and 4 seniors from Orrville High School helped us knock out some much needed tasks on our spring to-do list, including freshening up our family viewing room and putting a fresh coat of primer on the outdoor barn walls. Thank you volunteers! 🙌

These creative kids came up with some VERY SILLY stories for our spring Mad Libs themed week! Libby’s story wins for the most laughs as a result of using her siblings names in the story, the use of “poop” as verb in just the right place 💩 and that fly-flavored juice…🪰🧃🤢
