Haestens demise…
I just finished the part of warriors of the storm where Uhtred captures eads byrig and haesten meets his demise. I didn’t expect him to die this early or it be as different from the show as it is. It’s one detour the show made I honestly really like. I’m sure that’s just because the show came first for me.

I can’t fathom how I missed this series until 2026. Honestly didn’t even know it existed. Have been stuck in bed healing from broken foot. On season 5 and am surprised how much I miss Alfred. Advice on other series like this?

Alfred really pi**ed me off for constantly taking advantage of Uhtred and I liked his kids until Alfred was on his death bed and I began liking Alfred and by Season 5 I can’t stand his kids 😂. Still, great show. I watch almost everything! I’dlike to watch more similar shows while I’m layed up if anyone has any suggestions. I’ve seen all the GOT shows and spin offs as well as Vikings

Possibly two of the best scenes in the entire show in the very last episode
Just finished watching the show for the third time all the way through. Two of the best scenes in the entire show in the very last episode. I'd say even rivaling that of the Alfred meeting at the end of Season 3.

So as to not have any spoilers, I'll just say rain and reflections.

Romance in TLK

This is something I only really noticed upon the second or third rematch of the show, probably because the romance wasnt the most interesting to me.

Throughout the entire series (idk if it's the same in the books) I cannot think of more than 5 main cast relationship that aren't toxic or up badly. And, aside from that, literally all the characters, men and women, are promiscuous asf. Uhtred is probably the biggest man w***e in England but that is besides the point 😭

Why on earth is there so little representation of a good relationship? Uhtred's only one is Gisela (while I liked Iseult, the romance between them did not feel convincing and was incredibly short lived). Alfred, the oh so pious Christian ealdorman and then King is also notorious for adultery, to the point that he has several bastard. And then theres the fact that both of his legitimate children have messy marriages, although I suppose you can attribute that to royal/arranged marriages not being ideal. Still, they commit adultery. Even Beocca cannot afford a long and happy marriage since Thyra is taken from him. I mean, damn, nobody in the show gets to be happy...

Not tryna be a priest and condemn everyone for their sins, but I am genuinely curious why there's so much promiscuity, and such little showing of a happy and committed relationship in the show. Is it like that in the books too? Did they cut some things out?

Differences between the show and the books, for those who have experienced both. Please share yours.

Having finished both the book and TV series, I thought I would ask what differences folks picked up on between the two.

I think the most notable difference was how the story was reworked so that women could have screen time, and be something other than the playthings/property of men.

One of the better parts of the books is how Uhtred and Finan age over the course of the story. The TV series is much more compressed time-wise it seems to me.

As I recall, most of if not all of the minor characters that die do so outside of the text. Uhtred will often mention them in passing some time after the fact.
