What a day for Orange County 4-H at the State Pork Challenge! 🐷🥓

We took THREE teams to the competition, and all three came home with something to be proud of!

🥇 Our senior team, The All American Unicorns: Jonas Hitt, Deizel Hitt, and Rachel DeBoer, took home 1st place in the senior competition! They made a baked potato appetizer featuring bacon as the main ingredient.

🥇 Our Everything but the Oink junior team: Melanie Gower, Jackson Burner, Lindsey Burner, and Re*****on Biller, also took home 1st place! Their bacon topped salad impressed the judges and earned them the top spot in the junior competition!

🥉 And our Orange County Cooks junior team: Dawson Carey, Weston St. Clair, and Wyatt Biller brought home 3rd place with their build-your-own BLTs!

They have put in a lot of work, practiced hard, and had a lot of fun along the way. It was so exciting to watch them put everything they had practiced into action at the competition!

A BIG thank you to Katelyn Burner, Jeremy Burner, and Sarah Gower for coaching these teams and giving so much of your time to help these kids succeed. We are lucky to have you!

We’ve officially kicked off Orange County 4-H Cloverbud Camp, and we’re having so much fun!

Our Farmyard Fairy Tales adventure began with The Three Little Pigs, where campers put their engineering skills to the test by building houses to withstand the Big Bad Wolf. On day two, we climbed into Jack and the Beanstalk, planting beans, exploring STEM activities, creating crafts, and learning how big things can grow from small beginnings.

We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week has in store for our Cloverbuds! 💚🍀

The Fair kicked off for OC 4-H yesterday with beautiful weather and the best kids around! Weigh-in first thing, followed by Farm Credit of the Virginias t-shirts, Rockingham Insurance awarded every exhibitor a bucket, and we finished the day with our Lamb and Hog shows.

Congratulations to our Grand and Reserve Champion Market Lambs and Hogs!

Join is today for the Dairy Show at 1pm, the Goat Show at 3pm, and the Beef Show at 6pm!
