Anthesis's mission is to support independent and inclusive lives for adults with disabilities through employment and community integration. Anthesis is accredited in all areas of service by CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities in the areas of:
- Organizational Employment Services
- Community Employment Services (including Job Development, Job Supports, Job-Site Training)
- Community Integration
- Older Adult Services
- Supports for Persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder

A strong community is built by those who choose to invest in the well-being and success of others. 💙🧡

As Anthesis marks its 60th anniversary, we’re taking the opportunity to shine a spotlight on the organizations that make a difference through their actions.

Today, we’re recognizing Dignity Group for their ongoing friendship, generosity, and support of Anthesis and the individuals we serve. Their involvement is a reminder that making a lasting impact doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes people and organizations willing to show up, lend a hand, and invest in the lives of others.

Throughout our history, the generosity and support of community partners have helped us expand opportunities, strengthen our programs, and create meaningful experiences for the individuals we serve.

As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we’re proud to recognize National CORE and the Empire Strykers, two organizations whose commitment to community and collaboration reflects the spirit that has sustained our mission for six decades.

Our story has never been ours alone. It belongs to the families, organizations, and community members who continue to believe in what we can accomplish together.

What a great day to support the Dignity Group 15th Annual Joanne & James Jennings Memorial Golf Tournament at Los Serranos Country Club. Our guys were the morning greeters for the event and am sure that they enjoyed the lunch with the golfers. We appreciate Grady and his team for always including Anthesis in this event and hope that it was a successful day of golf and fun in honor of your wife and son!

As we continue sharing portraits from the Pomona Valley Workshop years, we’re reminded that an organization’s history isn’t only found in dates, buildings, programs, or names. It lives in people.

Each of these faces represents a life, a story, and a chapter in a community that has been growing for nearly 60 years.

Much has changed since these portraits were taken. Opportunities have expanded, expectations have changed, and our understanding of what inclusion and independence can look like continues to grow.

These photographs give us a chance to look back while remembering why that progress matters.

Before we were Anthesis, we were Pomona Valley Workshop.

Recently, we came across a series of postcards commissioned during our PVW years, each featuring the portrait of a participant whose story became part of our organization’s history.

Today, we’re sharing a few of those portraits as a tribute to the many people who have shaped our mission across six decades.

The name has changed. The way we talk about disability, inclusion, independence, and opportunity has continued to evolve. But at the heart of our work has always been people.

As Anthesis celebrates 60 years, we honor the individuals who came before us, the people we serve today, and the generations still to come.

For 60 years, Anthesis has grown alongside the people and communities we serve.

Our story began in 1966, when local families came together to create meaningful opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. What started as a small work program operating from a family garage would grow into Pomona Valley Workshop—and eventually into Anthesis.

As we prepare for our 60th Anniversary Dinner on Friday, October 23, we invite you to be part of the next chapter of that story.

1966 — Pomona Valley Sheltered Workshop is established by local families.

1979 — The organization becomes Pomona Valley Workshop.

2017–2018 — Pomona Valley Workshop becomes Anthesis, and Integrated Employment Community-Based Services begins.

Today — Anthesis continues creating opportunities through employment, community integration, education, skill development, and new pathways for independence.
