As the 48th WorldSkills Competition draws closer, Global Partners and Members are coming together to prepare, mentor, and inspire the next generation of skilled professionals on the .

Global Partner IAPMO, with support from LIXIL(リクシル), organized a Skills Forum in the UK designed to give Plumbing and Heating Competitors from 16 countries a chance to put their training to the test as they prepare for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.

"For our young people about to compete on the WorldSkills stage, the smallest margins can make the biggest difference to their competition outcome and overall experience. This could mean anything from the way they organize their workspace and tools, to how they handle the pressure of working in front of international judges and the public. Training workshops like this give our Competitors and Experts a good grounding for what is to come at the main event," said Seán Kearney of IAPMO.

We are incredibly proud of our charitable arm, the IWSH Foundation, and the skilled plumbers who united to upgrade the Los Angeles Mission homeless shelter's plumbing infrastructure.

A century ago, IAPMO was founded right here in Los Angeles. In honor of that legacy, we wanted to give back to the community where it all began.

To commemorate the 6th Annual National Backflow Prevention Day, BPI Vice President Sean Cleary shares his annual address on the vital importance of water safety:

“August 16th is the sixth annual National Backflow Prevention Day, a day to celebrate everyone who works behind the scenes protecting the water systems we depend on each and every day. We celebrate the plumbers, pipefitters, backflow testers, inspectors, educators, manufacturers, and code developers who ensure the end user receives clean, safe, potable water from the source to the last free-flowing tap.

This date was chosen not as an anniversary of our success, but as an anniversary of a failure: a cross-connection at the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair that resulted in deadly backflow. It serves as a reminder that we must always be vigilant, forward-thinking, and dedicated to cross-connection control programs.

We are the unsung heroes of water safety. People in this industry do not look for glory or praise; they do it because it is the right thing to do. As water systems become more complex, the importance of backflow prevention is more critical than ever. Each and every one of us is an ambassador for our industry. On the day we celebrate the work we do and the people who do it, let us commit to work harder and do better.”

The Construction Products Group of IAPMO, a member of PEPA, recently attended the PEPA Summer Technical Meeting to contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding building & construction product codes & standards.

Providing objective input, as an accredited independent third party, helps us build meaningful relationships that align our testing, evaluation, and quality assurance expertise with PEPA members & manufacturers striving for a safer built environment.

We enjoyed being part of the conversation, supporting the construction industry, and participating in the Polymeric Exterior Products Association (PEPA) Summer Technical Meeting!
