Bella and Sunshine Rescue We are a dog rescue focused on Dobermans and Doberman-mixes. We will assist other dog breeds as well. We are volunteer-operated and volunteer-managed.

Bella and Sunshine Rescue is a 501(c)(3) based in sunny Southern California. We pull dogs from shelters or take in stray/surrenders, and provide them with medical care to ensure health and to treat (or stabilize, for matters that cannot be treated) any illnesses or injuries. Once the dogs are medically cleared, we find them loving furever homes. In other words, no one in this organization takes home any income. 100% of donations received go straight to helping shelter and homeless pets. Overhead and operations cost is paid for via a special grant specifically for that purpose from one of our corporate benefactors.

Our Theo Pumpkin has been in emergency vet since afternoon. When I (Anna) came to visit this morning, he just looked a little sleepy. By 2pm, he was disoriented and can no longer walk.😔💔 His foster mom and I have been crying all afternoon.

Things are not looking great. His kidney values are extremely elevated (double his last highest value). He is receiving fluids and supportive care, and pending further testing tomorrow.

His current vet bill is pushing $1k (the attached estimate is just the preliminary). If you can donate anything at all to help… $5 from your Monday coffee fund, perhaps?🥺

We don’t know what tomorrow will look like. But we will do right by him. Please help us do right by him.💔

Little 7 month old Patty has been a sad puddle the past couple of days. 🥺 She needs your help to bring her happy puppy smile back.

She started limping slightly earlier this week after puppy training class (maybe she had a bit too much fun?), but despite with crate rest, she went into full lameness on her back left leg. Fundraising to help cover her upcoming vet visit tomorrow.

Also fundraising for 3 spay/neuters this week (roughly $450 each + extra since two of them have low vWD factors)

We have a few medical cases that we'll be posting fundraisers for this Tuesday as well. Sanctuary senior Doñita Coco has multiple masses on her mammary area and on her leg that need to be addressed. Mango needs his ear/tail rechecked and pain meds revised.

I know it feels like we're always asking for help $$$. Well, that is because we are always asking for help $$$. 🫠 Our rescue runs primarily on donations to care for the dogs in our care... and we currently have 12 fospice/seniors in our care. 3 major medicals in our care, and 15 adoptable 17 adoptables. Think about how often your personal dogs go to the vet... now multiply that by 30. Thats us.🫠🫠🥲

Hello there. We need a lil' help. We are fundraising for Sir Theo Pumpkin's prescription food 🎃🐾🍽️ Its roughly $100 a week for his kidney diet food, and is another $15 or so in cleaning supplies.

Theo's poops are finally better now, and his diarrhea has FINALLY resolved. He is still skinny as heck - we are hoping now that his diarrhea is better, he'll start to put on weight.

He's also due for a follow up mid-october, which includes another blood panel.

Eli dropping in to say goodnight and to thank everyone for your support and donation towards his emergency vet bill. 🙏🙏 It took almost a full 36 hours for him to start breathing normal again, but look how much better he looks now! Poor pup though - he lost a few pounds in a couple of days.

But we are relieved to report that it wasn't DCM or cardiac failure. Phew.

It turned out to be a horrible case of pneumonia. Now, we've seen horrible pneumonia before, but Eli's went from nothing to horrible in less than 16 hours! It was terrifying.

It seems like Eli is prone to aspiration pneumonia - we will be consulting back with our primary vet regarding new ways to help him not aspirate while eating and/or drinking. We have made some adjustments to his feeding/water previously, but looks like we may need to try something else.
