This week, we celebrate the incredible Community Health Workers who are truly the backbone of our sickle cell community. 🫶🏽

You advocate. You listen. You connect. You fight. And most importantly, you show up for our Warriors and families when they need you most.

Your compassion, dedication, and commitment make a difference in more lives than you may ever know. We are beyond grateful and blessed to have people who stand beside our community and make sure every voice is heard. ❤️

What happens when California invests in comprehensive, coordinated sickle cell care? Real, measurable change.

In her recent Sacramento Observer opinion piece, our  President  &  CEO, Mary Brown, highlights how Networking California for Sickle Cell Care is transforming  health care  for more than 1,100 adults across the state. By increasing access to specialized care, integrating community health workers, and reducing preventable hospitalizations, NCSCC is helping ensure sickle cell warriors receive the support they need and deserve.

California has made meaningful progress. With  renewed state investment, we now have the opportunity to build on what’s working and ensure this model of care continues to reach the people who need it most.

¿Qué sucede cuando California invierte en un cuidado integral y coordinado de las células falciformes? Cambio real y medible.

En su reciente artículo de opinión de Sacramento Observer, nuestra presidenta y directora ejecutiva, Mary Brown, destaca cómo Networking California para el cuidado de células falciformes está transformando la atención médica para más de 1.100 adultos en todo el estado. In a recent opinion piece, Keyasia Currie, our incredible Community Health Worker based at the UC Davis Sickle Cell Clinic, shares how CHWs are helping transform sickle cell care by rebuilding trust, removing barriers, and supporting patients every step of the way.

And thanks to initiatives like Networking California for Sickle Cell Care, more adult Californians living with sickle cell disease have access to coordinated, compassionate care and have the support they need to live, long healthy lives.
