John Nader is a new board member on the Future for Oneonta Foundation Board of Directors. John retired as president in Farmingdale State College in 2024 and returned to his hometown.
While at Farmingdale, he co-directed SUNY’s Offshore Wind Training Institute and was co-
chair of the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council. Previously he served four
years as Oneonta’s mayor and twelve years on Otsego County’s Board of Representatives. John
worked at SUNY Delhi as a professor, dean, and provost from 1982 to 2016. He was board chair
of Opportunities for Otsego during the period in which the agency built its West Broadway
headquarters and the homeless shelter. For many years John worked as business manager and
general manager of the Oneonta Yankees and Oneonta Tigers.
