Leadership. Service. Humility. These are the principles that define Mr. Gregory (Greg) Johnson and his lasting impact on our community.

As a longstanding member of 100 Black Men of Omaha, Inc., Greg has played an instrumental role in helping secure and sustain the financial stability of our organization, ensuring we can continue investing in our mentees for years to come.

As a shareholder at Hayes & Associates, Greg brings a commitment to excellence and ethical leadership to his profession. A proud United States Air Force veteran who served for eight years, Greg has also dedicated himself to serving others through numerous community organizations and his role as Senior Deacon at Salem Baptist Church. Above all, he treasures the strong bond he shares with his wife and daughter.

Greg leads with heart, serves with purpose, and exemplifies the power of intentional leadership. Our mentees look up to Greg as a living example of what hard work and a commitment to community can accomplish.

Our brother Eric Ewing is doing the work. As Executive Director of the Great Plains Black History Museum, he’s keeping Bertha Calloway’s vision alive and making sure our history has a home in Omaha. Proud to have him in our Brotherhood.

Dedication. Commitment. Steadfastness. These qualities define Mr. Randy Schmailzl’s leadership and his enduring commitment to expanding opportunities for others.

As Metropolitan Community College (MCC) President, Randy has dedicated his career to education and student success. Beginning his years of education service as a high school teacher, administrator, and coach, Randy continued his work in higher education before joining MCC. After serving in several leadership roles, he was appointed President of the College in 2009, a position in which he continues to make a meaningful impact.

Through his leadership and partnership with 100 Black Men of Omaha, Inc., countless mentees have been exposed to career pathways that lead to meaningful, sustainable futures. From HVAC and plumbing to construction management, MCC has helped our young men explore skilled trades and access scholarships to pursue their educational and career goals.

Randy’s leadership extends beyond the classroom—it opens doors, creates opportunities, and helps turn potential into promise. We are deeply grateful for his continued investment in our mentees and the greater Omaha community.

Connector. Passionate. Compassionate. These qualities capture the heart of Mr. Marcus Bell and his unwavering commitment to empowering individuals, strengthening families, and building a stronger Omaha community.

As the Omaha Bridges Out of Poverty Chief Executive Officer, Marcus leads efforts to help under-resourced families overcome barriers and build sustainable paths to success. Born and raised in Omaha, Marcus' leadership philosophy is grounded in partnership, respect, and the belief that everyone has strengths and potential waiting to be developed.

Through his work, Marcus creates connections, opens doors, and helps individuals access the resources and relationships they need to thrive. Marcus is one who recognizes the dignity, resilience, and potential within every person.

Marcus’s impact on 100 Black Men of Omaha, Inc. is especially meaningful. Having previously served as the 100 Black Men of Omaha, Inc, Executive Director, he understands firsthand the power of mentorship. Today, he remains a dedicated, engaged, and impactful mentor, continuing to pour into our young men and exemplify what it means to lead through service.

Marcus is a bridge-builder in every sense of the word—connecting people to possibilities, transforming passion into purpose, and reminding our community that lasting change happens when we invest in one another.

Integrity. Perseverance. Resolve. These principles define the leadership and lasting impact of The Honorable Derek Vaughn, whose career reflects a steadfast commitment to justice and public service.

Justice Vaughn made history as the first African American appointed to the Nebraska Supreme Court, representing the Second Judicial District. His distinguished career in public service includes serving as a Douglas County Court judge, a Douglas County District Court judge, and an attorney in the Douglas County Attorney’s Office.

Beyond the courtroom, Justice Vaughn remains committed to strengthening the community he serves. Through his involvement with the Nebraska Bench Media Committee, he helps foster positive, professional relationships among attorneys, the courts, and the media. His service also extends to his faith community through Salem Baptist Church and his work coordinating the Zion Baptist Church Wild Game Feast.

Justice Vaughn exemplifies what it means to remain accountable to something greater than oneself. His dedication to justice and community reflects the values we strive to instill in our mentees.

We are excited to announce our partnership with the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) for the Humanities in Action – Maverick Internship Program!

Do you know a UNO undergraduate student at sophomore standing or higher majoring in one of the eligible humanities disciplines? This is an amazing opportunity to gain paid, meaningful, real-world experience while making a lifelong impact in the lives of young people in our community!

Through this transformative internship with 100 Black Men of Omaha, Inc., students will have the opportunity to:

1. Gain meaningful professional experience
2. Expand their professional network
3. Build valuable career skills
4. Serve the Omaha community through a mission-driven organization
5. Earn college credit toward degree

Eligible majors include: Studio Art & Art History, Black Studies, History, Interdisciplinary Studies (Humanities), International Studies, Latino/Latin American Studies, Medical Humanities, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Women’s & Gender Studies, and World Languages & Literature.
