MCC Friends and Alumni Network is proud to recognize chef, entrepreneur and 2014 Culinary Arts alum Nina Sodji as the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. From building Okra African Grill to mentoring students and supporting scholarships, her impact is inspiring. Congratulations, Nina!

MCC is proud to recognize award-winning chef, entrepreneur and community leader Nina Sodji as the College’s 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient.

A 2014 graduate of the Culinary Arts program and owner/head chef of Okra African Grill, Sodji has built a nationally recognized brand rooted in authentic African cuisine, cultural storytelling and community impact.

From award-winning culinary achievements to mentoring students and supporting scholarships for Black, refugee and immigrant students, Sodji continues to make a difference in the community.

Her journey from MCC student to successful restaurateur reflects the power of education, resilience and purpose-driven leadership.

Congratulations, Nina, on this well-deserved honor.

Proceeds from this event directly benefit MCC students involved in SkillsUSA, supporting career and technical education through hands-on learning, competitions, and leadership development.
