🏆 Congratulations to The Ashokan Center, our 2026 Tourism Business of the Year! 🎉
The Ashokan Center is an independent music and nature nonprofit established in 2008. They welcome school groups for educational field trips, bring community together through festivals and public events, host music & dance camps, and provide a memorable setting for private retreats, conferences, and weddings. Their National and State Historic District has served as a gathering place for generations—from the Munsee people who hunted and fished this land to the later development of Ulster County’s first mill and blacksmith shop and the construction of Winchell’s Inn, their historic centerpiece. They are honored to share this remarkable place and its stories with every guest who visits.
At Ashokan, a team of naturalists, cooks, musicians, educators, stewards, organizers, and community-builders ar united by a shared purpose: to preserve meaningful traditions, inspire lifelong exploration, and create a welcoming place where people of every generation feel at home. From reducing food waste and encouraging respect for those who grow and prepare food to powering their campus entirely with solar energy and working toward a zero-carbon future, they strive to ensure that every experience here strengthens community and honors the planet.
