🍂 Throwing it back to last year’s Fall Break Camp! 💙

Our campers had the BEST time filling their days with adventure, activities, new friendships, and plenty of smiles! From canoeing, rock climbing, and archery at Flat Rock to crafts, games, and fun around the Y, Fall Break was packed with memories our campers won’t forget. 🙌

And now… it’s almost time to do it all again!

Looking for a fun way to spend your Saturday morning? Come out and scramble with us! 🏓

Our Pickleball Scramble is a great chance to get on the court, meet other players, and play a variety of games. You’ll switch partners throughout the morning, play 11 games to 11 points, and keep track of your individual score.

No partner? No problem!

Just bring your paddle, your game, and a willingness to have some fun. Whether you play pickleball all the time or you’re ready to try your first scramble, we’d love to have you join us!

There’s plenty happening at the Decatur County Family YMCA this month! Take a swipe through to see what’s coming up, check out this month’s schedules, and maybe find something new to add to your calendar.

And if there’s one date to save, make it Saturday, October 24. 🎃 Our Halloween Carnival is back from 3–5 PM with costumes, games, treats, and plenty of Halloween fun. Bring your people and come hang out with us - it’s free and open to everyone!

October swim lessons begin October 13, and we have spots available for swimmers of all ages and skill levels.

Whether your little one is just getting comfortable in the water or ready to build stronger skills, our swim lessons are designed to grow confidence, safety, and ability!

Check out our October options below, including Water Discovery & Exploration now on Wednesdays! 👇

💧 Level 1 – Water Acclimation | Ages 3–5 | 4:30–5:00 PM
Build comfort in the water while learning basic safety and movement skills.

💧 Level 2 – Water Movement | Ages 3–12 | 5:15–5:45 PM
Practice floating, forward movement, and continued water safety.

💧 Level 3/4 – Water Stamina/Stroke Introduction | Ages 5–12 | 6:00–6:30 PM
Build endurance, improve technique, and grow confidence.

💧 Water Discovery & Exploration | Wednesdays | 4:30–5:00 PM
Parents and little ones explore the water together while building comfort, confidence, and early water safety skills.

A little over a week later, we’re still thinking about General Assembly. ⚡️

From September 17–19, members of our Decatur Shelby County YMCA team joined thousands of Y leaders from across the country in New Orleans. General Assembly brings Y teams together to share ideas, learn from one another, and talk about how we can better serve the communities that count on us.

This year’s conversations included the role Ys play as places where people can connect, build relationships, and feel like they belong. Our team heard how other Ys are responding to the needs of their communities and came home with fresh perspectives, new connections, and ideas we’re excited to explore here in Decatur and Shelby counties.

And, of course, we made time for a little NOLA fun along the way. 😉💙

DCMH will be hosting a Flu Clinic for our YMCA community on Friday, October 9th from 8 AM - 1 PM.

Interested Y members and staff can receive a flu vaccine with no out of pocket costs. Patients are required to bring their ID and insurance cards.
