We the people of Freudenfest, in order to form a more perfect weekend, establish music, ensure cold beverages, provide for the general enjoyment, promote German heritage, and secure the blessings of pretzels to ourselves and our posterity...

Do hereby declare:
🍺 No one leaves thirsty.
🎵 No one sits still during a great song.
🥨 Calories consumed at Freudenfest do not count.
💃 Everyone becomes a dancer eventually.

🎶 100 steins of beer on the wall, 100 steins of beer… Take one down, pass it around… 100 days until Freudenfest is in town!

The countdown is ON to Oldenburg Freudenfest—the “Biggest Little German Festival in Indiana”—where we celebrate the rich German heritage of our village with food, music, games, and family fun!

From the chicken dance to dachshund races, pie auctions, stein holding and to sauerkraut balls, it’s everything you love about Freudenfest… and more!

🇺🇸 But this year is extra special… 🇺🇸 As we raise our steins and celebrate our German roots, we’re also honoring the 250th birthday of the United States of America! 🇺🇸 🦅
🎉 That means double the celebration, double the fun, and double the reason to gather with family and friends in the Village of Spires.

Have you ever wondered what happens during an off season from Freudenfest?

There’s numerous of volunteers that help out throughout various activities in preparation for the next festival. From our steering committee to our every day committee, our sponsorship teams, and our “holy rollers”, AKA the sauerkraut balls team, there is always a lot going on from start to finish. As we always say, it takes a village!

Tonight concluded our making of the sauerkraut balls. It takes four weeks and plenty of behind the scenes planning to get there but with many folks volunteering we accomplished yet another year of rolling some sauerkraut balls!

It’s quite amazing on just how many we make in a 4-week time period. And how quickly they sell out year after year. The recipe goes back many years from Rita Baumer and the tradition continues for many to enjoy!

Over that four week span we have 30-40 dedicated volunteers volunteering to step up to provide the most sought out delicacy of Freud, the World’s best homemade sauerkraut balls.
