If you live in the MLK or Ross Heights & Pitts Park neighborhoods, you’ll want to know about the Strong Neighborhoods Initiative (SNI). 👀

We caught up with DeAndre Martin, SNI's Program Planner, to talk through what the program is, which Eastside neighborhoods are eligible, and what residents should know about accessing available resources.

NEOKCR also has an SNI Resource Navigator who can help residents understand what’s available, answer questions, and walk through the application process.

OKC Beautiful is bringing 200 free trees to the Eastside, and they’re looking for residents, businesses, and organizations in the project area to participate.

📍 Eligible properties must be located between NE 23rd & NE 4th and I-35 & I-235.

🌱 Available trees:
• Tulip Tree
• Sawtooth Oak
• Bald Cypress

Trees will be planted by trained volunteers on October 3, weather permitting. OKC Beautiful will also help coordinate utility locates and work with property owners to identify the best planting locations.

The deadline to request a tree is September 21! Trees are first come, first served, so don’t wait to get your request in.
