Finished up the initial deliveries so that our elementary and middle schools will be ready to receive students on August 10th! 1,250 backpacks, over 23,000 supply items, more than four tons, 417 miles, 33.5 hours.

Had a great week last week when the Navy Junior ROTC unit from Vanguard High School showed up to stuff almost 300 backpacks for distribution to our middle schools. They will be distributed to homeless and needy students throughout Marion County!

Today was another very productive day as we continue to prepare school supplies for distribution at the beginning of the school year in August. Many thanks to Carolyn Smith, Steve LaBreche, Doug Juhl, and Diane Trice - all from the Kingdom of the Sun Chapter of MOAA - and Steve's daughter, Anna, and son, Ryan, for the help.

Yesterday our MOAA Chaplain, Carolyn Smith, and two young ladies from St. John’s Lutheran School, Anna LaBreche and Anna Clay, showed up and knocked it out of the park. Getting our backpacks ready for the distribution in July, they managed to pack ten items into 768 pencil boxes. Three solid hours of labor to help veterans help kids! Thank you very much!

Friends and family - Today I will complete my 80th trip around the sun. I have been truly blessed and want for nothing. (Well, I could use a younger body, but I take full responsibility for what I’ve done to this one.) Osceola Middle
Ocali Charter Middle

Then I loaded up school supplies to take to Gill Logistics tomorrow in preparation for Saturday’s stuffing of over 5,000 bags for the “Community Give-Back” event on July 26th.
