*What is the Oberlin Free Store for Kids?*

We are an all-volunteer collective, not a formal organization.

Everything is free!

All are welcome. We do not ask where you are from.

We post our hours on our website each month: https://oberlinfreestore.org/

We are located at 44 E. Lorain St. in Oberlin inside the basement of the Peace Community Church.

You can take whatever you need. You can shop, donate, volunteer, or do all three.

Clothing is arranged by size and season, not gender.

We are an all community members and/or caregivers and volunteers. All of the clothes and other items are free. No one makes money. Everything in the store comes from you, the community, through donations 🤩

We are and have been supported by OberlinKids, the Indigenous Peoples' Day Committee of Oberlin, the Oberlin College Green Edge Fund, and the City of Oberlin Youth Climate Action Fund. The Peace Community Church has donated the space to us.

Thank you for an outstanding first full year as the Oberlin Free Store for Kids!

As an all-volunteer collective, we opened in October 2024. In 2025, we counted 1,696 shoppers in our store who took home 2,880 bags of clothing, toys, and books. We received over 3,000 bags of donations this year.

Our 500+ volunteer hours only account for the time we spent in the store. But our dedicated volunteers— caregivers, community members, and students from middle school to college—worked far more behind the scenes to foster this space and clothing exchange.

Thank you as always to the Peace Community Church for sharing this awesome space with us. We truly appreciate all of the work of our shoppers, volunteers, and donators—members of our community who care about environmental sustainability, resource re-distribution, and mutual aid. 🥰 Happy New Year!
