Following the institutional review that Oberlin went through last year, the Academic and Administrative Program Review (AAPR), this year has been the start of many changes here at Oberlin. Unfortunately, not all of these changes have been made clear by the institution, and transparency regarding the restructuring of Oberlin Student Cooperative Association (OSCA) is one of many issues that requires immediate attention. FASA's members have been in OSCA for many years, and the sustainability of this organization lies very close to our hearts.
Despite announcements that models of the proposed changes to OSCA were to be released last December at the first “OSCA - One Oberlin” forum, OSCA members arrived at the forum to be told that the models would not be presented then. The delayed announcement of the OSCA models severely shortens the time that OSCA members and Oberlin students and alumni as a whole have to provide feedback. Given the importance of OSCA’s sustainability and accessibility, we demand that the promises of transparency, accountability, and inclusion made by AAPR are upheld, both in regards to OSCA negotiations, as well as One Oberlin as a whole.
