Applications are opening for the inaugural Tapestry Certified Educator Program!

This virtual professional learning program will help K–12 educators use immersive 3D places, primary sources and diverse perspectives to create engaging, standards-aligned learning experiences.

Participants will:

🌍 Explore practical ways to bring place-based learning into the classroom
📚 Design and pilot classroom-ready lessons
🤝 Collaborate directly with CyArk’s education and development teams
💡 Help shape the future of Tapestry’s educator resources
🏅 Earn recognition as a Tapestry Certified Educator

This week, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey brings one of the ancient world’s great journeys back to the big screen. But the stories of heroes, gods, love, and betrayal told across the Greek islands are much older.

On the Greek island of Naxos, another legendary voyage reached a turning point. According to mythology, Theseus stopped on the island after escaping Crete and defeating the Minotaur. The monumental gateway of the unfinished Temple of Apollo, known today as the Portara, stands within a landscape deeply connected to this ancient story.

As audiences prepare to rediscover the world of Homer, we invite you to explore another chapter of Greece’s mythological and cultural landscape through our new Temple of Apollo Tapestry experience.

Step inside a living memorial honoring first responders, service members, and the lives forever changed by September 11th at O’Hara’s Restaurant and Bar. The new Tapestry experience lets visitors explore the more than 7,000 patches, pins and mementos that cover the walls and ceiling of the interior. As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, we're launching a new collection of immersive experiences that explore the American story through the power of place.

Across three places, three time periods, and three perspectives, the collection traces how individual sites can deepen our understanding of the people, values, and contradictions that have shaped the nation — from the founding era of the American Revolution, to the fight for educational opportunity during segregation, to service and remembrance after September 11th.

Together, these experiences create new ways to connect with American history and the communities that carry it forward. Stay tuned for the launch and reveal on June 30th!

In the early hours of June 28, 1969, a police raid on the Stonewall Inn sparked days of resistance that helped launch the modern LGBTQ rights movement. CyArk and NYC LGBT Historic Sites Project partnered in 2019 to document the site in connection with the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, using LiDAR and photogrammetry to capture the Stonewall Inn, Christopher Park, and the surrounding Christopher Street area in 3D. Explore the art and significance of Totem Bight State Historical Park in Ketchikan, Alaska. We’re excited to launch a new virtual experience exploring this historic site in Northern California, once home to Bauhaus-trained ceramicist Marguerite Friedlaender Wildenhain. After fleeing Europe during World War II, she created a way of life that inspired generations from her studio at Pond Farm. Join former students and park interpreters as they share firsthand stories and reflections, bringing the legacy of Pond Farm Pottery to life in a whole new way.
