Pride Month is not only a celebration — it is a call to protect the people still fighting to be safe, seen, and free.

In the spirit of Marsha P. Johnson’s legacy, SafePlace International continues to stand with LGBTQI+ refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced community members who face violence, exclusion, and survival challenges simply for being who they are.

Across our programs, we are already providing community care, emergency support, leadership development, and safe spaces for those too often left behind.

This Pride Month, your support helps keep that work alive. A gift of just $15 can help us continue showing up with care, dignity, and action.

Because there is no pride for some of us without liberation for all of us.

A quick spotlight on the people behind the kindness. ❤️🌈✨

Mpho on the far left, Masi on the far right, and a representative from the German Embassy in South Africa standing together in the spirit of community, care, and solidarity.

Moments like these remind us that impact is built through people who show up, connect, and choose compassion.

Mpho’s Act of Kindness brought warmth, joy, and unity to the Primrose Informal Settlement. ❤️🌈✨

Alongside the German Embassy in South Africa, SafePlace International, Pachedu, Kasi Vusa, Kangya Ye Lesedi, and community stakeholders, this outreach supported more than 200 children with clothes, blankets, winter essentials, games, performances, and meaningful conversations around love, respect, xenophobia, homophobia, abuse, and humanity.

As we stepped into Pride Month, this day reminded us that community care is powerful, kindness restores hope, and love will always be stronger when we choose each other.

This was not just an outreach.
This was healing.
This was unity.
This was Ubuntu.

Happy Pride Month from SafePlace International 🌈✨

We celebrate Pride with one powerful reminder: q***r nation has no borders. Refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and LGBTQI+ communities deserve safety, dignity, belonging, and joy, everywhere.

This month and every month, we continue standing for love, freedom, visibility, and community. 🏳️‍🌈💜

Our Director of the Global Family Initiative, Earl Semu, is no stranger to the camera or to showing up when the team needs them most.

During this interview, Earl spoke about refugees, asylum seekers, and why sessions like the SOGIE workshop hosted by Lawyers for Human Rights and Trans Guardians Alliance are so important for LGBTQI+ communities navigating displacement.

At SafePlace International, we believe access to information, protection, and community can be life-changing. We are grateful to be part of spaces that strengthen safety, dignity, and support for those who need it most. 💚🏳️‍🌈

The Cape Town SPI team Chad, Ashley, Jess, and Earl alongside our alumni and volunteer Wesley Marodza, are honored to join Lawyers for Human Rights and Trans Guardians Alliance for an important SOGIE workshop supporting LGBTQI+ refugees and asylum seekers.

Spaces like these matter because access to information, protection, and community can make a real difference in how people navigate safety, dignity, and their rights.

We are grateful to be part of this important conversation. 💚🏳️‍🌈

A powerful reminder from Earl Semu, Director of the Global Family Initiative: care and safe spaces matter because everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, supported, and free to be fully themselves. 💛
