Garrett County Community Action Committee Empowering families & individuals to turn Aspirations into Achievements in Garrett County, MD Casey Foundation "Kids Count" exemplary organizations in 2005.

The agency provides various services for individuals, families, and older adults. It also owns several housing developments and community facilities located in different communities throughout Garrett County. GCCAC was selected as a charter affiliate with Rural LISC and was picked as one of the Annie E. The Agency has been recognized by state and national entities for its community development and rural programming work.

GCCAC's Service Coordination department consistently delivers for our neighbors when they have to choose between keeping the lights on or feeding their families. We receive the second-highest number applications for energy assistance across the state, yet process them in the shortest amount of time of any jurisdiction.

We couldn't be as successful as we are โ€” especially in emergency situations โ€” without strong community partners, which was also highlighted at the conference. Ryan Vance of Stuck Enterprises, Inc /Oakland Oil & Propane paneled with us to share the fuel provider's perspective navigating challenging logistics.

What an incredible trip to Play Out Loud , Oakland's brand new indoor playspace! More than 30 little ones aged 3 months to 3 years from Overlook Child Development Center's Early Head Start classrooms had a fantastic afternoon of imaginative fun.

We did some construction, fought fires, went camping and made smores, served up some slices at the pizza place, went grocery shopping for fruits and veggies, planted some flowers, took care of our babies and puppies and chickens, and got lots of wiggles and giggles out.

We can't wait to return! ๐Ÿ’š
