🪄 Something magical is coming to Oak Ridge

09/12/2026

Get to know Ian Passmore before you meet him on the podium tonight! WUOT 91.9 FM, Knoxville's Melony Dodson, Radio Host/Pianist/Musical Director sat down with our new Music Director — turns out the man behind the baton (and the "dogdadmaestro" handle) fell in love with conducting as a kid watching a touring wind ensemble, and taught himself to conduct from library books before he ever picked up an instrument himself.

Tonight, Ian makes his ORSO debut with "Ian Conducts Beethoven" — Wagner's Die Meistersinger Prelude, Stravinsky's Pulcinella Suite, Carlos Simon's Fate Now Conquers, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7.

Words barely do it justice — but we'll try. 🎻✨

Saturday night at the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra was nothing short of magical. From the sweep of Festival Overture to the soul-stirring Bruch, and then Respighi's Pines of Rome painting soundscapes you could almost feel beneath your feet, every moment was a gift.

The encore? Earned every single second. The standing ovations? Absolutely deserved.

This is why live classical music matters. This is why we show up. And if you missed it, we promise, the ORSO will give you another reason to be back soon.
