Come see us at Caffeine For A Cause, as we welcome our new friends at Seven Brew to Riverside! These guys are a machine, serving great coffee and beverages with a smile and a killer soundtrack! If you order ANY small drink, you can pay what you want and all the proceeds come to Oak Leyden! We’ll be here until 6 tonight, from 9 to noon and 3pm to 6pm tomorrow, AND from 11-3 on Sunday. LOTS of chances to grab a drink from the comfort of your car and support our mission. Let’s do this! Who Brew

We had the happiest Halloween celebration with some of our children’s services participants and therapists! The kids played with some themed sensory activities (pumpkin spice play dough, a sensory bin with noodles and spiders, light up cubes) and motor activities (bowling with ghosts, hammering a golf tee into a pumpkin). After that, they trick-or-treated around our office where employees and our adult participants enjoyed handing out treats and seeing their fabulous costumes!

Thanks for everyone who came and may your Halloween continue to be frightfully delightful!

Speech Language Pathologist Katie Crehan programmed this BIGmack switch to say “trick or treat” for Lenyx! For children who haven’t started speaking, using other AAC devices, or sign language, this kind of button is a great starting point! When pressing a button activates a functional response, kids learn a powerful pre-language skill!

This is also a great reminder for our allies that not every child can say “trick or treat” or “thank you,” but every child deserves access to holidays and traditions!

Tomorrow, we're excited to share something we've been working on for a while: Oak Leyden's FY2026 Community Impact Report.

Inside are stories about the people we serve, the programs that support them, and the incredible things that can happen when people have opportunities to learn, grow, live and connect.

We've given that idea a name: Building Belonging.

Because at the heart of everything we do is a simple belief that every person deserves the opportunity to be known, valued, supported and connected to a community.

Tomorrow, we're excited to share some of what that looked like at Oak Leyden this past year.

Oak Leyden is thrilled to announce a fun partnership with Seven Brew Coffee coming up this weekend! Seven Brew is opening a new spot in North Riverside (7511 Cermak Road, just west of Harlem), and they've chosen us as their partner for their Caffeine for a Cause event!

Caffeine for a Cause (CFAC) is a pre-opening, “pay what you want” fundraising event designed to build genuine relationships within the community while giving back to a local charity (Like Oak Leyden!). Every dollar that comes in during our event timeframe will be donated to OL.

During CFAC, a limited menu is served, with 7 Brew donating drinks, labor, and
drive-thru access to create a meaningful community experience. (see the second graphic to see the menu!) Customers are invited to support our organization by making cash or card donations throughout the event. Oak Leyden team and volunteers will be on site to introduce our mission and thank the customers.

All funds raised are totaled and added to a check presented to the charitable organization during the stand’s ribbon cutting ceremony.

Here are the hours for the Oak Leyden Caffeine for a Cause:

Friday: 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. to noon and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It's simple, gang--you KNOW you're going to get a coffee or some other indulgent drink this weekend. Why not do it at Seven Brew and kick a few dollars to a good cause?

Past versions of this event have raised nearly 15k for other non-profits, so let's try to get to 15K!

It was a gorgeous weekend in Chicagoland,
and Oak Leyden was out pursuing our mission AND
enjoying all things Fall. On Saturday, we collaborated
with the AMAZING women from the
and the INSANELY GENEROUS team at
to spruce up the gardens and yard
at one of our adult residency locations.

Oak Leyden owns and operates a dozen different sites that provide
24-7 care to adults with intellectual and developmental
disabilities. However, these are not nursing homes; our
residents take pride in contributing to where they live,
and were out in yard with our volunteers as they
prepared this home for winter. Deep gratitude to all that
took time off from their busy weekend to help us! 😍

Join us in welcoming Physical Therapist Lauren Beeker to the team! Lauren brings more than thirteen years of experience to our multidisciplinary team of Children's Services therapists.

Lauren received both her B.S in exercise science and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from St. Louis University. While she has worked with children of all ages, Lauren especially loves working with infants, toddlers, and their families through Early Intervention.

Lauren is both a newcomer to our team and to Oak Park, and we are excited that she has jumped in to invest in our community's children!

Thank you to Gina Musielski from STARNET for leading an informative and engaging workshop on transitioning from Early Intervention to Early Childhood Education! 🌟

Last Wednesday evening, families learned about the transition process, key timelines, eligibility for services, parent rights, and ways to actively participate in planning for their child's future. We know this transition can bring many questions, and our goal is to ensure every family feels confident, informed, and supported every step of the way.

Thank you to all the families who joined us and to Gina for sharing her expertise and guidance. Together, we can make this transition a positive experience for children and their families. 💙
