What happens when AI, automation and new business models converge to transform drug discovery?

Join us June 18 in Chicago for a timely panel discussion exploring how emerging technologies are reshaping the path from assay to asset.

"My excitement around participating in this panel is two-fold," says Bob Campbell, PhD, Editor-in-Chief of SLAS Discovery. "I'm thrilled to help bring an SLAS event to Chicago and showcase how the convergence of AI/ML, automation and screening is reshaping what's possible in our field."

The event is also an opportunity to strengthen connections across Chicago's thriving life sciences community.

"Peapod Bio is proud to sponsor the SLAS Meet-Up in Chicago and create a space where students, researchers, technology developers and industry leaders can connect, exchange ideas and spark new ideas and partnerships," says Zachary Gurard-Levin, PhD, CEO & Founder of Peapod Bio.

Whether you're advancing new technologies, building collaborations or exploring what's next in early drug discovery, this is a conversation you won't want to miss.

SLAS Meet-Ups are free and open to everyone interested in life sciences and lab automation. View the full details and reserve your free spot via the link in the first comment.

The latest guest on the New Matter podcast is SLAS2026 Innovation Award winner Steven Finkbeiner, MD, PhD (Gladstone Institutes and the University of California, San Francisco). Finkbeiner's podium presentation, “Development and Application of AI-powered Label-free Imaging for Assays and Screening," took home the top prize in Boston this past February.

In this episode, Finkbeiner takes us through his lab's development of an AI-powered, label-free imaging and a closed-loop "thinking microscope" that uses optogenetics and reinforcement learning to perform thousands of single-cell experiments in a single well, dramatically accelerating research into neurodegenerative diseases and beyond.

Additional discussion topics:

🟢AI-powered label-free imaging for assays
🔵Deep learning models in biomedical research
🟣Prognostic markers and disease diagnosis using AI
🟠Closed-loop automated microscopy platforms
🟢Overcoming challenges and limitations of AI in research
