Come to the Hanami Spring Picnic as MSU Tollgate Farm, 4/19/2026 from 11 - 3. While there stop by the club farm stand for club made products. The club has been busy preparing products for sale. As always, sales from club farm stands support club activities and the animal barn at Tollgate farm.

New This Year: 🏅 Indoor 4-H Winter Olympics!
Inspired by the 2026 Winter Olympics, we brought the excitement to our own 4-H Winter Olympics — with a creative twist!
Originally planned for the great outdoors, we pivoted indoors thanks to the serious lack of snow. But no worries — the fun factor stayed sky-high!
Our events included:
🏂 Snowboard Bounce Relay Race
🎯 Mini Marshmallow Biathlon
🥌 Curling Competition
🍪 Downhill Cookie Face Race
The grand finale? A celebratory Hot Cocoa & Fixin’s Bar that might have been just as competitive as the games themselves ☕✨
Huge smiles, lots of laughs, and some impressive Olympic-level determination. We may not have had snow — but we definitely had spirit!

Seed Sharing Update!
Last Saturday’s first seed sharing event made a BIG impact:
✔️ 728 seed packets shared
✔️ 13 community & school gardens served
✔️ These gardens serve 3,600 youth & adults

The Tollgate Farm 4-H Seed Service Project is dedicated to supporting our community by providing free seeds to nonprofit community gardens and schools that grow food and inspire learning.

Each year, our club reaches out to seed companies for donations. Our 4-H youth members then take the lead—sorting, organizing, and preparing seed packets for distribution to gardens and schools that may not otherwise be able to afford them. This hands-on project allows our youth to practice leadership, organization, and service while making a real impact in their community. We have been doing this for a while. Our 5 year seed packed donation total is 16,906!

We will be hosting two seed distribution events this February. Representatives from nonprofit community gardens and schools interested in receiving seeds are encouraged to contact us at [email protected] for more information.

On Saturdays and Sundays, club members take the lead in caring for the animals at the MSU Tollgate Farm and Education Center , gaining hands-on experience in the barn. Along the way, youth build valuable skills by helping with record keeping, including entering ruminant weights, FAMACHA scores and more into the farm’s management software, Farmbrite .
