Two Dearborn Police Officers Shot During Arrest Attempt

At approximately 2:30 a.m. this morning, two Dearborn Police Officers were shot while attempting to arrest a suspect in the area of Inkster Road and Van Born Road.

During the incident, the suspect was also shot.

Both Dearborn Police Officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The suspect was transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds and is currently listed in critical condition.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The information contained in this statement is preliminary and subject to change as additional facts are confirmed.

Additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident will be released as it becomes available.

Congratulations to the Michigan Police Unity Team for completing their most recent tour. This annual four-day 355-mile cycling journey goes from Stevensville, Michigan, north to Petoskey Michigan. The unity tour raises awareness, fosters healing for survivor families, and raises funds for the families of fallen officers.

🚨 **MISSING VULNERABLE ADULT – PLEASE SHARE** 🚨

The Novi Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating Dennis Hudgins, a 61-year-old vulnerable adult.

Description:
• 5'8", 300 pounds
• Bald, wears eyeglasses
• Last seen wearing a white T-shirt, gray sweatpants, and black tennis shoes

Dennis has schizoaffective disorder and relies on prescribed medication. He does not have access to a vehicle, a cell phone, or money.

He was last seen leaving his group home near 10 Mile Road between Taft and Novi Roads at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. His direction of travel is unknown.
