Thanks to our friends at 95.3 WLKR for always shining a spotlight on our cats, dogs, and upcoming events.

This morning, we talked about Kylie the cat, Penny the dog, and our June 27 Open House event. If you'd like to meet either of these beautiful gals, reach out here or call the shelter to schedule.

And if you're interested in learning more about the shelter, please consider stopping by on June 27th for a facility tour, refreshments, and PLENTY of adorable pets.

Please share! Penny has had no interested callers.

Penny's foster mom Sarah Kieffer of Lady's Paws has offered free boarding and grooming for her for the remainder of Miss Penny's life!

Do you remember Penny, our 8 ½ year old hound mix? This girl came to us in a very sad state. She was emaciated, infested with fleas and ticks, heartworm positive, and lyme disease positive. Those were her initial challenges. Once she gained weight (she did so well that she's now on a diet) and finished heartworm and lyme disease treatment, she had to have surgery. There were numerous mammary masses that had to come off along with being spayed.
Penny has been with her foster momma Sarah through it all, and as much as Sarah loves Penny, it's time for her to find that forever home.
We do not have any prior history on Penny, so her age is an estimated 8½ years old. We think that she looks to be maybe Pointer of some sort. We do know she's such a love bug and has so much s***k! She will need some work on a leash because she is strong and loves to go. She does great and loves car rides. She has done amazing with the children in her foster home. She does well with the dogs her own size but seems to be intimidated by dogs bigger than her, and we have not seen her with cats yet. We believe that she would make an amazing addition to just about any family!
Since Penny is in foster, if you want to meet her, you will need to call the shelter to make an appointment 419-663-7158. She may be older, but this girl is so strong and resilient that you can't resist! Call us today to meet Penny!

Huron County residents! Our next Humane Ohio sign-up date is Tuesday, July 7th. This is an amazing resource for low-cost spay/neutering options, helping to curb the county's community cat population.

Sign-up begins at noon, though spots do fill quickly, and we would suggest arriving early to secure your spot.

Searching for our Shepherd experienced peeps..... Bullet is 6/7 years old.

He came to us because his owner passed away. He had a huge mass removed from his back that was non cancerous. He had a horrid ear infection that has been treated a few times and is doing great now.

He is great with woman and children and very picky and selective with men. He is a protector and needs a home that understands that. He is loyal and a loving boy in the right environment.

He has some barrier aggression in his indoor kennel but he is a completely different boy when he is outside of that environment. We are 100% transparent and want the proper living situation for him.

Please call and make an appointment if you would like to meet him. He is a wonderful fuy❤️

Let us introduce you to Roofus. He is a 3 year old Lab/Husky mix.

Roofus came to us with 3 other litter mates. They were a big Oops litter and they were never socialized. This was probably the most traumatic intake we have ever had. These babies came in screaming and defacating all over themselves. The most terrified group of dogs we have ever seen.

We have had them for a year and a half. We have worked diligently with them. It took 6 plus months to even get collars on them.

Roofus has made the most progress so far. We started with collars, then the leash.....several months of that and Roofus was the bravest. We got him out and through the doors to the dog park. We got him brave enough for car rides and we finally got him to the vet to get fixed and vaxxed.

He is currently being fostered with one of our staff members so he can acclimate to a home environment. He gets along with other dogs and just wants to play with them. He is curious and bit much for cats but he is learning.

He will need a very patient and compassionate family to let him decompress and become the wonderful and loving dog that he will be.

If you are interested, please call the shelter and set up an appointment to meet him. He really is the sweetest boy, who just needs love, patience and understanding. He has a puppy mill dog personality but he has so much love to give to the right person. And he is super cute❤️ Please share this so we can find him his perfect forever family. He has patiently waited for over a year and a half. PLEASE PLEASE SHARE🙏
