In Loving Memory of Diego 🌈🐾

We have some very sad news to share today. Diego crossed the rainbow bridge. 💔

A few days ago, we noticed that something just wasn’t right with him. We took him to the veterinarian and began treatment, but unfortunately, he wasn’t improving. It was recommended that we take him to an emergency clinic for further diagnostics. The results did not give us the outlook we had hoped for, but we continued treatment and held onto hope that Diego would turn a corner.

Sadly, today his condition worsened, and the heartbreaking decision had to be made to end his suffering.

We see so many animals come through our doors because they have been failed, neglected, or harmed by humans. That was not Diego’s story. Diego was very much loved. His family was faced with the incredibly difficult decision to let their beloved dogs go due to very unfortunate circumstances. Even though they could no longer care for him themselves, there was never any doubt about how deeply he was loved.

Diego was loved here, too. Our staff is grieving his loss alongside his family. He touched our hearts during the time we were fortunate enough to care for him, and we will miss his sweet presence.

Please keep Diego’s family, our staff, and everyone who loved this amazing boy in your thoughts as we mourn his loss.

Run free, sweet Diego. You were loved, you are missed, and you will never be forgotten. 🌈🐾💔

A Little Fair Week Clarification ❤️🐾

We’ve heard that some people have been looking for the Huron County Humane Society booth and were surprised to see Hydro Haze in our usual spot.

Nope—we didn’t lose our spot! 😊 We decided to try something different this year and take HCHS outside in a tent. We’re excited to see how it works!

In the meantime, we want to ask everyone to please be kind to the folks at Hydro Haze. They are a small local business trying to make a living, and unfortunately, some people looking for us have not been very kind to them.

They didn’t take our booth—we chose to move! ❤️

So if you’re looking for HCHS at the fair, come find us outside in our tent! We’d love to see you, talk animals, share what we’re working on, and of course, accept plenty of love for our shelter pets. 🐶🐱

Let’s make it a great fair for everyone—including our neighbors at Hydro Haze! 🎡🐾

Are you the someone that has a thing for special dogs? A dog that is 3 years old and learning how to dog?

A beautiful boy that came with 3 other littermates who were all unsocialized at 1 1/2 when they came to us.

Roofus made strides first and made his way in to a staff member's home for a temporary foster. It took a year to get this boy confident enough to allow us to get him outside of the building and he is thriving now and looking for his forever family.

His brothers are currently making progress. 2 of the other 3 (Obie and Copper) are going out to the dogpark now and learning how to be 'real' dogs. We are still working on our boy Walker. Slow progress is better than no progress.🤞

Roofus is ok with some dogs and learning his manners with cats, but still wants to chase. He will need someone that has time and patience for him. He is an amazing boy and needs a family of his own. Please consider helping our wonderful boy and SHARE this post.
