The Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police was chartered and incorporated in 1995. The organization established its first office in the Boston area and set about informing local police departments about the benefits of joining a national organization like the Fraternal Order of Police. Today the main office is located in Norton, Massachusetts and the organization has grown considerably. The National Fraternal Order of Police has grown to over 355,000 members. The Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police has grown to 24 local lodges that have members from all walks of Law Enforcement including Local Municipal, City and State Police Officers, County Sheriffs, Corrections Officers, as well as members of various Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. New lodges continue to be chartered in different areas of the State of Massachusetts as members of the Law Enforcement community discover what the FOP stands for and what the word fraternalism is all about. The Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police is fortunate to have established the second Police Surgeon’s Associate Lodge in the country. The Surgeons Lodge is made up of Doctors from many specialties of medicine that join together in one common goal to support members of law enforcement and their families. The Fraternal Order of Police offers its members insurance benefits, legal defense, seminars and workshops, publications, and family and community events, just to name a few of the ways we support law enforcement. When you join The Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police you automatically become a member of the National Fraternal Order of Police and have the backing and support of over 355,000 men and women just like you who are members of the law enforcement community. The Fraternal Order of Police. The voice of our Nations Law enforcement Officers.

Happy Halloween from all of us at the Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police!

As you head out for tonight’s festivities, please keep the safety of our youngest trick-or-treaters in mind.

Our most important reminder: SLOW DOWN!

Expect children throughout our neighborhoods. In their excitement, they may dart out of driveways, step between parked cars, or cross streets without looking.

Put your phone down, stay alert, and slow to a crawl when driving through neighborhoods. Use extra caution at crosswalks and intersections, and watch carefully when entering or backing out of driveways.

No destination you’re rushing to—and no text you need to return—is more important than the safety of a child.

Let’s work together to make this a safe and happy Halloween for everyone!

Rest easy Captain we have the watch.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Captain Andrea Fogarty after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Captain Fogarty served this department and the citizens of Haverhill with distinction for 27+ years. Throughout a long and dedicated career, she was known for unwavering professionalism, strong leadership, and a genuine commitment to the men and women of this department and the community we serve. Even during her illness, Captain Fogarty remained positive, resilient, and deeply appreciative of the support shown to her, reflecting the strength of character that defined her both personally and professionally.

Her impact on this police department is lasting, and her absence will be deeply felt. During her three decades of service, she served in multiple assignments, including Community Policing, with multiple NEMLEC units, and for a large majority of her career in our Detective division. She will be greatly missed by all of us who had the privilege to work alongside her and call her a friend.

The members of the Haverhill Police Department extend our sincere condolences to Captain Fogarty’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

Today, Vice President Rich Shailor and Director of Goverment Affairs Frank Frederickson had the honor of attending the 43rd Annual Trooper George L. Hanna Awards at the Massachusetts State House. Every year, this ceremony recognizes the men and women who have acted with extraordinary courage in the performance of their duty.

This year’s recipients confronted armed attackers, protected innocent lives and entered a burning assisted living facility to rescue vulnerable residents. Their actions remind us of how much can depend on an officer’s willingness to act when someone else’s life is at stake.

Medal of Honor
• Officer Aurise Miedico — Burlington Police
• Officer Jose R. Valenzuela — Boston Police
• Officer Gerard Colpoys — Boston Police
• Officer Steven Negron — Holyoke Police

Medal of Valor
• Detective Daniel Wall, Jr. — Everett Police
• Fall River Police: Sergeants Shane Galus and Adam Talbot; Officers Mohammed Adelakun, Collin Almeida, Brandon Andrade, Logan Arruda, Taylor Carreiro, Tre’Quan Gardner, Nicholas Kennedy, Jeffrey Louis, Jimmie J. Page, Christopher Silvia and Jacob Swenson.

Congratulations to every recipient. Behind each name is a moment when someone needed help, and an officer who answered with selfless courage. We owe them our gratitude and our support.

Support those who support us.

Today, Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police Director of Government Affairs Frank Fredrickson met with Senator Mark Montigny to present our formal endorsement in his bid for reelection.

Senator Montigny has demonstrated his commitment to the men and women who protect our communities through his leadership on first responder mental health and peer support services. His efforts recognize that supporting law enforcement includes caring for the officers behind the badge.

The Massachusetts FOP is proud to support
Senator Montigny and looks forward to continuing our work together on issues affecting our members and public safety throughout the Commonwealth.

Thank you, Senator Montigny, for supporting those who serve, and thank you to Frank Fredrickson for continuing to represent our members on Beacon Hill.

Enough is enough! Prayers for our brothers in Philadelphia!

Enough is enough! Prayers for our brothers in Philadelphia!

One Philadelphia police officer is dead, and another is fighting for his life. Between them, 15 gunshot wounds.

They answered a call for service and walked into an ambush.

One father will never come home to his two children, while another family is praying their father of five survives. These officers showed up to serve and protect their community, and in return, they were met with a hail of bullets.

How many more officers must be gunned down for doing their jobs before Congress acts? How many more families must have their lives shattered before we stop accepting violence against law enforcement as an inevitable part of the job?

WE ARE FED UP WITH MOURNING OFFICERS WHO SHOULD HAVE COME HOME.

Prayers and condolences are not enough when officers are being deliberately targeted simply for wearing the badge. The National Fraternal Order of Police calls on Congress to pass the Protect and Serve Act, establishing federal penalties for those who deliberately target law enforcement officers with violence.

Our officers continue to answer the call. Congress must answer ours! We will not stay silent while officers are hunted down for doing the job they swore to do.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. PASS THE PROTECT AND SERVE ACT.
