Congratulations to the four newest members of the Arkansas Senior Hall of Fame! The Arkansas Department of Human Services recognized these outstanding Arkansans Monday morning at the Arkansas State Capitol for their lifelong work to improve the lives of their fellow citizens.

• Carol Ann Moore of Drew County has spent decades supporting others through social work, championing mental health and coaching young athletes.
• Dr. Carlene Canady of Conway County carried her dedication to education into service at her local senior center, where she helped obtain grants to keep older neighbors nourished.
• Mary Williams of Hot Spring County helps older adults stay connected and supported at home through her work with the Senior Companion Volunteer Program.
• Dr. Daryl H. Johnson of Mississippi County has devoted his career to education and community well-being, while also earning recognition in the Arkansas Powerlifting Hall of Fame.

Their contributions reflect the many ways older Arkansans strengthen our communities. Join CareLink in celebrating their service and this well-deserved recognition!

Essence Healthcare offers Medicare Advantage plans designed to help older adults access the care and resources they need to stay healthy.

October is Health Literacy Month, an opportunity to recognize the importance of being able to find, understand, and use health information to make informed decisions. As technology plays a greater role in how people access and manage their healthcare, digital health literacy has become essential. Knowing how to identify trustworthy sources, use patient portals, participate in telehealth appointments, protect personal information, and communicate with providers can help older adults take a more active role in managing their health.

Thank you to Melissa Weatherton, Director of Specialty Medicaid Services at the Arkansas Department of Human Services, for spending time with CareLink today!

Melissa joined our President and CEO Luke Mattingly and COO Randi Metcalf to learn more about how we support older adults and their families across central Arkansas. She saw our Meals on Wheels team preparing meals for home delivery and helped deliver meals on a route, experiencing firsthand the care and connection behind each delivery.

Her visit also included conversations about transportation, senior centers, care coordination, and Medicaid in-home services. We appreciate her time and interest in the services that help older Arkansans stay independent and connected to their communities.

CareLink had a groovy time at Good Shepherd Community’s 70s Health and Wellness Fair!

We enjoyed meeting residents at our booth and sharing ways we can help older adults stay healthy, independent, and connected. The residents showed up in their favorite ’70s attire and brought plenty of good vibes with them.
