There are countless ways that poverty impacts children, and one that is rarely considered is participating alongside their peers in school activities. Whether it's playing a sport, needing funds to attend a field trip, or something as simple as having a school spirit t-shirt, inclusivity is vital to allowing a child to feel like they belong.

We love seeing these photos of students from Salyerville Elementary, who because of their generous sponsors, now have the chance to join in on school activities without worry of standing out. In 1964, our founder, Jeanne Clark Wood, began Children Incorporated with a powerful mission: to break down the barriers that prevent children from accessing education and building brighter futures.
Today, 62 years later, we are proud to carry her legacy forward. Together, we have reached more than 500,000 sponsored children, bringing education, hope, and opportunity to children in the U.S. and around the world.

🍞❤️Hunger remains one of the most persistent barriers to a child’s well-being and education. In America alone, millions of children face food insecurity and go without adequate nutrition because their families simply cannot afford it.

And did you know that in each region, not just in internationally but in the U.S. as well, the depth of need can vary in unbelievable ways? Staples that can be easily accessed in Kentucky are triple the cost in Arizona. It can be easy to take for granted what we have accessible to us on our store shelves, but for the children in our program, they are very aware it is because of the generosity of our donors and sponsors that they have what they need.

🌟Special Shoutout to our amazing coordinator Tammy!🌟

Tammy has been our dedicated coordinator through Family Resource and Youth Services in Kentucky. She works hard to ensure children enrolled in our program have what they need for a healthy school environment. She builds relationships with children and families, advocates for their needs, and celebrates their victories. In communities where resources can be limited, Tammy's dedication helps ensure children feel seen, encouraged, and hopeful for the future.
