The mountains of Eastern Kentucky are beautiful, but behind the breathtaking scenery many families are struggling just to get by.

During recent visits to schools in Wolfe and Breathitt Counties, Children Incorporated staff met children being raised by grandparents on fixed incomes, students facing food insecurity, and families working hard through generational poverty and the lasting impact of devastating floods. But there is so much hope!

We met students who lit up talking about their sponsors. Children proudly wearing new clothes and shoes. Coordinators making every dollar stretch to ensure children feel cared for, confident, and ready to learn.

Thanks to this incredible community, our recent appeal for our Feeding Program raised $23,776!

According to Feeding America, just in the United States 1 in 5 children experience food insecurity. Overseas that numerous triples. There has never been more of a need for those who are most vulnerable, and your contributions go directly to those who need it most. A recent letter from one of our coordinators speaks stronger than we can, this important work is changing children's lives.

Completing your final exams is stressful on it's own, but imagine if you also had to worry about if you had enough food to sustain you, or what you would do if you weren't feeling well? Those are fears Akhil did not have to worry about, solely because of his sponsor.

In India, students move through a series of high-stakes exams, including national board exams and competitive entrance tests like the Joint Entrance Examination and the National Eligibility Entrance Test. With millions of students competing for limited university placements, these exams are among the most competitive in the world, directly impacting the ability to even apply.

Akhil was able to focus on these incredibly important exams because someone stepped forward to help. Because sponsorship is more than support: it’s hope that lasts.
