And now for some sad news...
They will cancel our Barbrewgrass Festival blood drive if more people don't sign up in the next day or two. So far, only 8 amazing humans have signed up to donate blood, and our goal has been reduced to 28 in order to proceed...
Please, if you are willing and able, make an appointment and take an hour of your Saturday to come give blood. There are shortages all over the country (all over the world, it turns out), but we surely don't want shortages here in the Lowcountry. So many people will benefit from this effort. Tell your family. Tell your friends. The need is real.

WE’VE DONE IT!!! WE'VE HIT 6 DIGITS!

SuSu’s SonFlower Schoolhouse/ The Barbrewgrass Festival Support Team delivered $6,300 cash, trucker hats, beanies, Tshirts, and a whole lotta love to the MUSC Children’s Hospital yesterday morning, supporting the 21 kids fighting cancer and blood disorders that didn't get the "first day of school" experience.

That brings our running tally to $103,100 cash that has been distributed to 349 families fighting pediatric cancer and blood disorders.

We can’t continue this service to our neighbors without your amazing support and all those who have sponsored us and donated to our silent auction since 2021! Thank you all!

NO MO’ CHEMO!!!
Raise a glass with us while we celebrate Roane’s SIXTH YEAR off treatment! He is covered with permanent reminders of the battles he fought~ port scars on his chest, G-Tube scar on his belly, bone marrow biopsy scars on both sides of his pelvis, and of course the scars on his spine from 40-something lumbar punctures… While we may suffer PTSD forever, HE HAS NO RECOLLECTION of the details of the almost 4 years of torture. What an immeasurable blessing!
His celebration parade, smack dab in the middle of COVID, was one of the most special moments of our lives. We are still filled with so much gratitude for the people who came to support us (and those that were with us in spirit from afar). Check out the line-up on that frontage road! So many people. This is why we do 2026 BarBrewGrass Festival, friends.
God is good. All the time.

ONLY 3 WEEKS TO GO until Barbrewgrass Festival's 4th annual blood drive!
Our efforts have facilitated 83 BLOOD DONATIONS TO DATE... that's enough blood to save up to 249 LIVES!!! Not just pediatric cancer patients' lives, but trauma patients, mothers in the delivery room, sickle cell patients, and surgery patients, to name a few. The Blood Connection ensures that the blood collected at our drive will stay local, serving your family and neighbors in and around the Charleston area.
Please come help us meet our goal of 40 blood donations on Saturday, August 22 at Floyd Brace Company Orthotics and Prosthetics in West Ashley, just 5 minutes from Downtown and James Island! There will be plenty of space to park, an air- conditioned lobby, and snacks!

It never gets old...
That butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling I get each time we are blessed to make another donation to the pediatric cancer unit of the hospital. Yesterday, we made another installment to the 14 kids in the hospital. They each received $300 cash, handmade bead bracelets from the 2025 festival, BBG Tshirts, beanies, and/or hats.

This brings us to 328 kids supported by BarBrewGrass! We can’t continue to do this most important work without YOUR HELP and it’s time to crank up our efforts for the 2026 BarBrewGrass Festival fundraising effort! Here is a note from one of the recipients’ mothers:

“…From the bottom of our hearts we appreciate it so much. My daughter was diagnosed with T-Cell
Lymphoma in January just two days before her 12th birthday. We have been at MUSC since March 31st. She is a fighter and is now doing much better after being in the PICU for over 40 days. Anything counts and we really appreciate the donation that was given! Thank you so much for your kindness and this is something we will never forget!”
