Looking for a new place to take a walk, bike ride, or enjoy some fresh air?

One of the hidden gems of our park is the paved walking path that winds through beautiful green space and near the dog park area. The paved surface makes it great for families with young children, strollers, bikes, and anyone looking for a comfortable place to walk. And for our four-legged friends, the nearby dog park provides a wonderful opportunity to get some exercise and socialization.

One resident recently shared that the paved trail became the perfect place for their boys to practice riding bikes. Moments like these are what make our park such a special community space.

You can find this part of the park at 8545 277th Ave NE North Branch MN 55056

We’d love to see how you enjoy the park! Share your favorite photos, walking companions, or trail sightings in the comments below.

What an incredible day for our Bird Hike on Saturday!

Not only did we have a record-breaking turnout with 28 participants, but we also recorded a record number of bird species spotted! A fresh wave of migratory warblers had clearly arrived, bringing lots of color and activity to the trails. These beautiful little birds are often called the “butterflies of the bird world,” and we saw many, many Palm Warblers throughout the hike.

Bird watching continues to grow as one of the fastest-growing outdoor hobbies in the United States, and days like this make it easy to see why.

A special thank you to Joe and Tom for leading two separate groups and helping make the experience enjoyable and educational for everyone involved.

If you attended the hike, please share your photos in the comments below — we’d love to see what you captured!

And if you couldn’t make it, head out to the park and let us know what birds you spot on your visit!

Todays Annual Spring Bird hike probably set TWO all-time high records! For certain the 28 people that helped in the count set an attendance record! We divided into two teams of counters and our combined species list was 46 species!!! The migrating warblers must have arrived yesterday, traveling with the warm wind from the south! One of the very avid birders said that three of the birds that our saw were the first ones that he had seen this year. We even had our 'first of the season' Purple Martin checking out their house near the picnic shelter.

Here is a quick tour of the fantastic new board walk! It is located in the far east side of the park....across the lake, across the field, across the road from the Picnic Shelter.

Probably the first flower to bloom in the park. Scores of these Skunk Cabbage blossoms along the new east board walk!

A great day for doing 'prescribed burns' at Anderson Park! Here are some of my snapshots from several of the parcels that were burned. These areas should be a lush green by the time we have our Annual Spring Bird Count in May!
Thanks Barry for letting me tag along today!

Just a quick stop at the park to do the fall Purple Martin house cleaning. 13 Trumpeter Swans were across the lake from the canoe dock. There were 6 pairs, but only one pair had a juvenile with them. The 'shoe boxes' in the house are holding up quite well. I forgot to bring a scraper to completely clean them. The new White Pine needles were added for their bedding when they return in the spring. The view of the four boxes, three with the shoe box in the closed for the winter position. The bottom one is how they all will be turned around in the spring. Until spring they are all turned to block the entrance to keep out 'visitors' for the winter. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL!!!
