Schedules are crazy, and being part of Young Marines means we understand that our youth are involved in so much more than just our program. We support sports, 4-H, school, family time, and the importance of making memories together.

But today is something special.

For the first time, North Bend Young Marines is together as one entire unit!

Seeing everyone here together learning, growing, building friendships, and strengthening our unit is a pretty incredible feeling. Every drill, activity, busy schedule, and sacrifice it took to get here was worth it.

Today, we aren’t missing pieces.

Today, we are ONE UNIT. One team. One Young Marines family.

🎉 NORTH BEND YOUNG MARINES — REGISTRATION DAY CONTEST! 🎉

What a GREAT day at North Bend Middle School Registration Day! We loved seeing so many families, students, and community members, and we were especially excited to have so many of you stop by to learn a little more about the Young Marines!
🎒 GUESS THE WEIGHT OF THE SURVIVAL BACKPACK!
We had an amazing 77 guesses — and we have a TIE!
The survival backpack actually weighed:
8 kilograms = 17 pounds, 6 ounces! 🎒⚖️
Our two closest guesses were:

🏆 Declan — 17 lbs 0 oz
🏆 Krys — 17 lbs 0 oz

Congratulations, you both nailed it! Since you tied, one of you will receive the compass🧭 and the other will receive the mini survival kit 🎒.

We do these contests because we love having fun, connecting with our community, and giving families an opportunity to meet our Young Marines and learn what our program is all about.

Hello, my name is Haylea Gregory, and I’m the Unit Commander for the North Bend Young Marines, although sometimes I think we should be called the Coos County Young Marines, because we welcome youth from all across our community!

I’m excited to share that the ticket is officially booked! On September 10th, I’ll be flying to Missouri for in-depth Toys for Tots training.

I signed up because I want to help bring Toys for Tots to Coos County and make an even bigger difference for local children and families.

This isn’t about competing with other youth programs. It’s about working together, supporting one another, and bringing our community closer for the kids who call Coos County home. There is room for all of us to make a difference.

So, Coos County…what do you say?

🎉 Thank You, Everyone! 🎉
We had an incredible 38 entries in our Guess the Rope contest during National Night Out at Riley Ranch!
Your guesses were fantastic, and we sincerely appreciate everyone who took part.
The rope lengths were chosen to honor the event:
🪢 Jar A: 8'4" – representing August 4th
🪢 Jar B: 26'0" – representing the year 2026
🏆 Congratulations to our winners!

Most importantly, thank you for joining us in honoring our First Responders, participating in the Presentation of the Colors, and supporting the North Bend Young Marines.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Hauser Citizen Patrol for hosting this wonderful community event, along with the Coos County Sheriff's Posse, Coos County Sheriff's Office, Hauser Fire, EMS, U.S. Coast Guard, Oregon Department of Forestry, Search & Rescue, our military veterans, volunteers, and every community partner who helped make the evening possible.
Together, we continue building a stronger, safer community. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

Today we made history!

Today, six recruits officially earned the rank of Private! Their dedication, discipline, and commitment to studying for their promotion test truly paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder.

You may notice they’re not wearing name tapes yet they’re taking a little longer than expected to arrive but, that doesn’t take away from what they accomplished today.

Watching these recruits remove the Recruit uniform and step into their BDUs is something special. You can literally see their confidence grow. Their posture changes, their pride shines through, and you can tell they understand they’ve earned this moment.

These young people aren’t just becoming young men and women, they’re becoming leaders. Their journey is only beginning, and we can’t wait to watch them continue to grow, learn, and lead through this incredible program.

Congratulations to our newest North Bend Young Marines Privates! We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. The future is bright!
