Over Labor Day Weekend, 138 books were placed into the St. Stephen's UMC, Norman, OK free library (there were no books 📕 the library) and 30 books were added to the free library at Colonial Commons Park. 📚❤️ Norman Parks and Recreation

Left 100 books in the Little Free Library at North Haven Church (formerly ReStore) today. There were no books in the free library and no food in the food pantry when we got there. The food pantry still needs food. 📚❤️

Today was a big delivery day. We dropped off four boxes containing 300 books at Red River Youth Academy for classroom use and independent pleasure reading. We were also able to fill a special request. Then we stopped by Center for Children & Families (CCFI) Norman and added 134 books to their bookcart. 📚❤️

Dropped off 200 books today at Crossroads Youth & Family Services, Inc. Head Start on Main in Norman. On Fridays all of the kids get to pick a book to take home and keep for their home library. 📚❤️

Thank you to our board member Cyndi and volunteer Isabel for giving out 115 books, 12 stuffies and 3 games this morning at Laundry Love Central Oklahoma at Sooner Wash in Norman. 📚❤️

Impromptu Dolly Day was so much fun with SunHive Collective! We read Dolly Parton's Imagination Library books, painted coats of many colors and listened and danced to Dolly songs. Little Read Wagon looked up words and phrases that describe Dolly Parton and made a list. Hometown loyalty was one of the phrases so we added some Norman Love and painted the Little Read Wagon picture in front of the weather center that Marshall Ramsey Fan Pageapalooza drew for us. 📚❤️

Today, we remember Dolly Parton not only for the music and stories she shared with the world, but also for her remarkable commitment to helping children become readers. 📚

In 1995, Dolly launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in her home county in Tennessee with a simple but powerful goal: put books into the hands of children and help them discover the joy of reading.

What began as a local program grew into an international effort that now reaches children in five countries, mailing free, age-appropriate books each month to children from birth to age five.

Dolly understood that a book can be much more than a story. It can spark curiosity, encourage a dream, and open a door to a lifetime of learning.

Her voice and songs will be remembered for years to come, and her legacy will live on in the stories shared, the books opened, and the love of reading she helped inspire. 📚

Thank you, Dolly 🦋, for believing in the power of books and inspiring generations of readers.
