Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day! 💙

Today, we celebrate the rich cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples and communities. We honor the resilience, strength, and leadership of Indigenous individuals whose knowledge, creativity, and advocacy continue to enrich communities around the world.

At The Immigration Project, we are privileged to work alongside Indigenous clients and families throughout the year. Their diverse languages, cultures, and experiences are an important part of the communities we serve, and we are grateful for the opportunity to learn from and support them.

Today, and every day, we encourage everyone to listen to Indigenous voices, learn from Indigenous perspectives, and celebrate the vibrant cultures and lasting contributions of Indigenous peoples. 🌿✨💙

Under the New Americans Initiative grant, we help adults with the naturalization process. We also help children and adults apply for their Certificates of Citizenship, where they became citizens through their parents, even if that happened a long time ago! For example, Hermie became a U.S. citizen when he was a kid and his parents naturalized, and Adriana was already a U.S. citizen through her mother when she was born abroad. They just needed the paperwork to prove it, and now they have it! Congratulations!

If your parents were U.S. citizens when you were under 18, and you are curious about your citizenship status, contact us to request an appointment. Parents, if you had children under the age of 18 who lived with you when you naturalized, contact us for an appointment to see if they may have become U.S. citizens through you. 309-829-8703 ext. 112
