The purpose of these sites is to communicate about matters of public interest to City of Norfolk residents, businesses and visitors. We encourage you to submit your questions, comments, and concerns, but please note these are moderated online discussion sites and not a public forum. We recognize the web is a 24/7 medium, and your comments are welcome at any time. However, given the need to manage our staff resources (your tax dollars), we generally only monitor comments and postings during regular business hours. We welcome all kinds of comments and thoughts; supportive, dissenting, critical or otherwise, as long as they are made in the spirit of constructive and civilized dialogue. Once posted, the City of Norfolk reserves the right to delete submissions that contain:

Now until July 4, Keep Norfolk Beautiful is serving as a drop-off location for BigHearted Blooms, bringing brightness to residents, patients, and healthcare providers who need it most. πŸ’πŸ’š

THANK YOU to the 30+ volunteers who unloaded, lifted, loaded and shredded thousands of pounds of documents, HHW, plastic bags and film, electronics and athletic shoes, food and animal donations through heavy downpours and lots of puddles. 🌦️πŸ’ͺ

Thank you to Norfolk CERT, SPSA Waste Solutions, SteriCyle/Shred-It, Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia, Drive Safe Hampton Roads, AAA Tidewater Virginia, Camellia Shores Civic League, Azalea Baptist Church, and the Norfolk Environmental Commission members that braved the weather.

Last call to round up the following items to bring to our drive-up and drop-off event:

πŸ‘Ÿ Athletic shoes (newer or gently used)

🧹 Clear out the clutter, recycle responsibly and give back while you’re at it. We’re accepting canned/nonperishable food donations for the PrimePlus Senior Center food pantry, along with new, unopened pet food to help local pets and families through the Community Pet Pantry at Norfolk Animal Care Center. 🐾πŸ₯«

We’re expecting a big turnout - more drop-offs means less waste in our landfills and a safer, cleaner community for everyone! πŸ‘

Join us on May 2 for the 37th annual Clean the Bay Day, a tradition, hosted by dedicated to protecting and preserving our coastal environment. This year, Norfolk is hosting 16 different cleanup sites city-wide, with hundreds of volunteers working to protect our environment!🌎
