We’re looking forward to welcoming our participants back on Monday, October 12!

While the storm has passed, we know some roads and areas may still be affected. Please use your best judgment when traveling and take any extra time you need to get here safely.

💙 For our Tree families: We’re sharing this current Okaloosa County shelter information in case you or someone you know needs it. Please stay safe and continue monitoring local emergency updates as conditions change.

🌧️ Hurricane Shelter Information

As we prepare for the storm, we want to make sure our community knows where to turn if you need a safe place to stay.

If you or someone you know needs to evacuate, here are some available shelters and resources in our area:

📍Northwest Florida State College – Raider Arena
100 E. College Blvd., Niceville
* General Population
* Opens Thursday, Oct. 8 at 6 PM

📍Davidson Middle School
6261 Old Bethel Rd., Crestview
* General Population
* Special Needs Shelter
* Pet-friendly **
* Opens Thursday, Oct. 8 at 6 PM

Please check with the shelter or local emergency management before heading out, as locations, availability, and eligibility may change based on storm conditions.

If you have a family member, friend, or neighbor with an intellectual or developmental disability, please help make sure they have a safe plan and the support they need before the weather worsens.

**Only service animals are permitted inside the shelter; all other pets will be housed on-site.

The Resting Tree will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, October 8, in alignment with Okaloosa County Schools due to inclement weather.

Please stay safe, stay dry, and take care of yourselves and your families. ❤️ We’ll see everyone Monday!

Briana brings her own personality, energy, and special spark to The Resting Tree, and we love getting to see her grow, participate, and we are very thankful that she is such a great cook! We’re so proud to celebrate YOU and your accomplishments this month!

We are so excited to celebrate our Participant of the Month, Ms. Madison! 💚

This month, she is being recognized for making incredible progress with her speech, becoming more comfortable around others, and adapting to new experiences! Watching her grow in confidence and step outside of her comfort zone has been such a joy.

August at The Resting Tree was full of laughter.
We made candles 🕯️, slime🫟, and bead bracelets 📿, played a little bingo🎱, and celebrated 🥳Madison and Kaleb. Same room, same friends, a lot of good memories.
Thank you to our participants, families, and staff for making it such a happy month.
