THIS MORNING- Training Day Heads-Up: Trench Rescue Edition

Today, October 22, at 8 a.m., Newton Fire/EMS will conduct a simulated trench rescue exercise near the Harvest Pointe construction site. To note, not all of the space marked in the yellow box will be utilized , and is just a general idea of where the exercise will be conducted.

Newton Fire/EMS will be joined by the McPherson Heavy Rescue Team and EagleMed Air Ambulance to practice coordination and response during a trench rescue.

No emergency here - just firefighters doing their homework! If you see emergency vehicles at the site, rest assured it’s all part of the planned training exercise.

LEADERSHIP IN ACTION!!!

Leaders from Local 5590 are attending the annual IAFF 2nd District Leadership Symposium in Kansas City, Kansas, hosted by Local 64, the Kansas City Kansas Professional Firefighters Association. The 2nd District represents IAFF members across Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska.

We’re proud to stay engaged, continue learning, and work together to strengthen our union and better serve our members! 💪🔥

Today, members of Local 5590 participated in the 25th Annual Kansas Fallen Firefighter Memorial ceremony. Each year, Honor Guard members from all over Kansas come together at the Kansas Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Wichita to honor those firefighters, career and volunteer, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their community. May their memory never be forgotten.

Newton Fire/EMS was happy to join in the Newton Schools homecoming parade last night.

It was great seeing so many students, families and community members lining the streets, cheering on our Railers and showing their Railer pride.

We’re always proud to be part of events that bring our community together. Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a great night-Go Railers!
