The Newington Children's Theatre Company recently presented a special fundraiser production of *Miss Nelson Is Missing* on June 6 and 7 in memory of former young actress Regan Martins.

The event raised funds for the Regan Martins Memorial Scholarship Fund, which helps ensure children have access to theater programs regardless of their financial circumstances.

Pictured is Theresa Martin, Regan’s mother, accepting a donation for the scholarship fund from GFWC Newington/Wethersfield Woman’s Club members Pam Garde, Donna Recknagel, and Chylene Pender.

The Newington Children’s Theatre Company, Connecticut’s longest-running nonprofit children’s theater organization, is proudly celebrating its 63rd season of inspiring young performers and enriching the community through the arts.

Bringing color and beauty to our community! 🌸🌼

Members of the GFWC Newington/Wethersfield Woman’s Club—Pat Mahoney, Jo Late, Marianne Stieglitz, Marie Byrnes, and Ursula Hunt—recently planted spring flowers at the CVS in the center of Newington.

🌷👩‍🌾This beautiful garden is lovingly maintained by Club members throughout the summer, ensuring it remains a bright and welcoming spot for everyone to enjoy. In the fall, the garden is carefully prepared for the winter season before beginning the cycle again next spring.

💕Thank you to these dedicated volunteers for helping keep beautiful!

🎉Congratulations to Ava Ramsey, recipient of the GFWC Newington/Wethersfield Woman’s Club Katherine "Ann" Whitford Scholarship, pictured here with Club member Pat Mahoney at The Community Room Cafe in Newington.

This fall, Ava will attend Manchester Community College, where she plans to pursue a degree in Business.

Throughout high school, Ava demonstrated dedication, teamwork, and leadership through her involvement in athletics, participating in field hockey and tennis, and serving as manager for the boys’ basketball team. She also devoted three years to volunteering at her church, helping to teach Catechism classes to young elementary school children.

We are proud to recognize Ava for her academic achievements, community service, and commitment to helping others. We wish her every success as she begins this exciting new chapter!

Shout-out to Jill on her award and for all she does to help our Club with our new website, interns, and social media support!

💙 I’m excited to share some special news!

I’ve been honored as Business Person of the Year by the Newington Chamber of Commerce for my work with Solo Agers Connect.

This award is especially meaningful because I created SoloAgersConnect from a desire to help people who are aging alone find trusted resources, support, and connection. It’s proof that when you build something with purpose, it can truly make a difference.

💙Thank you to everyone who has encouraged, supported, and believed in this mission. This recognition belongs to all of us who understand the importance of helping solo agers thrive.

Thank you to Senator Richard Blumenthal for providing a Certificate of Special Recognition with this honor.

Bread Warriors are at it again! We donated 60 loaves of bread in support the Sandwich Ministry of The Franciscan Center for Urban Ministry at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church in Hartford.

Their mission is to help alleviate hunger for the homeless, unemployed, and the working poor in Hartford by handing out sandwiches, water, and fresh baked goods every day from 4:00 – 5:30 pm with the help of 50 teams of volunteers.

Our GFWC Newington-Wethersfield chapter has committed to support the Bread Warriors by donating loaves of bread twice a year to help fulfill this mission. Here with Anna Eddy, coordinator of the Bread Warrior program (center) are our club members are Pat Mahoney (L) and Chylene Pender (R).
