On Saturday, September 19, 2026, we are asking that all referees pause for a moment of silence at their games prior to kickoff to honor Dr. Jesus Zornoza, who served as the State Referee Administrator for CSRP for the last 23 years.

Once the players have taken the field, and just before blowing the whistle to start the game, the entire referee crew should meet in the center circle and bow their heads for 20–30 seconds. After that, the crew can take their positions and begin the match.

As a reminder, in conjunction with Dr. Zornoza's family, the CSRP has established the Jesus Zornoza Memorial Scholarship Fund to help keep his memory alive. If you would like to honor Jesus by making a donation to the scholarship fund: https://www.ctreferee.net/jesus-zornoza-memorial-scholarship-fund/

CSRP sadly announces the passing of State Referee Administrator Jesús Zornoza. Jesús spent more than 20 years as SRA, having previously served as State Youth Referee Administrator. During his time as SRA, Jesús led the modernization of CSRP, created new opportunities for referee development, and helped thousands of referees develop as both officials and people. Jesus was inducted into the Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame in 2010.
