🇭🇹 TODAY IN HAITIAN HISTORY
📅 September 2, 1804

On this day in 1804, Haiti’s military leadership proclaimed Jean-Jacques Dessalines Emperor of Haiti. He became known as Emperor Jacques I.

This historic decision affirmed Haiti’s sovereignty and strengthened the authority of the new nation only eight months after independence. Dessalines’ official coronation later took place on October 8, 1804.

🇭🇹 JODI A NAN ISTWA AYITI
📅 2 Septanm 1804

Jou sa a nan lane 1804, lidè militè Ayiti yo te pwoklame Jean-Jacques Dessalines Anperè Ayiti. Li te vin pote non Anperè Jacques Premye.

Desizyon istorik sa a te konfime souverènte Ayiti epi ranfòse otorite nouvo nasyon an, sèlman uit mwa apre endepandans lan. Kouwònman ofisyèl Dessalines te fèt pita, nan dat 8 oktòb 1804.

Nou pap janm bliye moun ki te goumen pou libète ak souverènte Ayiti. ✊🏿🇭🇹
