A little Rumble Ponies volunteer appreciation post! ⚾️

All summer long, some pretty amazing people have shown up for Shady Strong and spent their Friday nights working at the concession stand.

And somehow… we have turned a whole lot of hot dogs and questionable amounts of nacho cheese into OVER $9,000 for Shady Strong!🌭

Thank you to every single person who has volunteered with us this summer. Some of you came once, some of you apparently enjoyed your glamorous new careers in stadium concessions so much that you kept coming back 😂 — and we are incredibly grateful for ALL of you!

We have been asked to cover ONE more game in September and we are less than $1,000 away from hitting $10,000.

So… who wants to sling some hot dogs, make some nachos, drop some chicken tenders and help us get to $10K?! 🙌

Friday, 9/4! One more game. One more crew needed! And probably several hundred more hot dogs.🌭⚾️

Shady Strong Community….we need some people! ❤️

We took a brief event planning siesta after this year’s amazing day but now we are starting to think about Shady Strong 2027 and we have decided it’s time to switch things up a little!

Before we decide exactly what that looks like, we want to pull together a group of people to brainstorm, throw ideas around, and help us turn those ideas into an amazing event.

If you love organizing events, have creative ideas, know people, or just love watching something go from “what if we did this…” to actually making it happen — we’d love to hear from you!

And if ALS has touched your life… maybe you’ve lost someone you love, cared for someone with ALS, or have wanted to find a way to help other families going through it — we would really love to have you at the table.

You don’t need event-planning experience, and you don’t need to be local! We can absolutely include people virtually.

And if you’re thinking, “I’m not sure I have time to take this on…” you’re in good company! 😂 We all have a lot going on. We’ll keep the commitment manageable and have ways to be involved even if you can’t make every meeting.

If you’re thinking “hmmm… I might actually like doing this” — message me!

Today was a great day!

This afternoon, we approved $12,390 in grant applications that will go directly to individuals and families living with ALS across Upstate New York and NEPA.

Every application tells a different story. Some need help traveling to appointments. Others need equipment, accessibility modifications, or financial assistance during one of the hardest seasons of their lives. No two requests are exactly alike, but every one represents someone who reached out and trusted us to help.

Because of our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community, today we were able to say “yes.”

To everyone who has supported Shady Strong—whether you’ve attended an event, purchased raffle tickets, volunteered your time, or made a donation—this is your impact.

Together, we’re making sure no family has to face ALS alone. 💙

Three little helpers… carrying a whole lot of love. 💙

Today, another round of Caregiver Self-Care boxes are on their way to families in our ALS community.

Behind every person living with ALS is someone quietly carrying an incredible weight. Caregivers spend countless hours providing care, advocating, encouraging, comforting, and loving through moments that most people never see. They give so much of themselves, often leaving very little time to care for their own needs.

These boxes are our way of saying, “We see you.”

Each Caregiver Care Box is thoughtfully packed with comforting gifts, practical resources, and a heartfelt reminder that caregivers matter too. We hope each one encourages its recipient to pause, even for a few moments, and remember that they are loved, appreciated, and never alone.

What an incredible crew! 💙⚾

A huge THANK YOU to this crew who volunteered with Shady Strong at Friday night’s Rumble Ponies game. Because of their time, energy, and smiling faces, we raised an amazing $1,200 to support local individuals and families living with ALS.

From serving fans to working behind the scenes, every shift makes a difference. We truly couldn’t do this without volunteers who are willing to give up an evening to help make our mission possible.

Thank you for believing in what we do and for showing our community what Shady Strong is all about. We are so grateful for each and every one of you!

Some of the most meaningful moments from Saturday didn’t happen on the stage.

They happened in the conversations between ALS families. In the hugs shared between people who hadn’t seen each other in months. In caregivers introducing themselves to someone who truly understood. In new connections being made and old friendships being renewed.

Throughout the day, the front of the stage was lined with signs representing the individuals and families Shady Strong has had the privilege of supporting. Each sign represented a journey. A family. A story of courage, resilience, and love. Looking across those names was a powerful reminder of why we continue this work.

To every family who spent the day with us—whether you’re navigating ALS today, honoring someone you’ve lost, or supporting someone you love—thank you. You are the heart of this mission, and seeing so many of you together was something we’ll never forget.

This is what community looks like. And this is why we do what we do. 💙
