Met Council on Housing

Met Council on Housing Housing for people, not for profit! www.metcouncilonhousing.org/

Met Council on Housing operates a number of tenant-assistance programs, run by our members, including a tenants' rights telephone hotline and a walk-in clinic, which serve thousands per year and are free and open to any New York City tenant. We publish Tenant/Inquilino, the city's only monthly newspaper on the tenant movement, and produce Housing Notebook, a weekly radio show on housing issues.

🗣️Tenants are the majority!! We must keep organizing as the administration moves forward, tenants must remain at the center of implementation and enforcement decisions. New Yorkers need not just new housing, but safe, stable, genuinely affordable homes, real accountability for negligent landlords, and stronger affordability protections for rent-stabilized tenants across the city.🙂‍↕️

Theodore (T.J.) White is excited to join the team at Met Council on Housing as a Tenant Organizer. He started organizing in college on electoral campaigns and later moved to Connecticut to work as a union organizer for 1199SEIU. Outside of organizing, he is passionate about film and enjoys spending time with friends. He hopes to learn more about the ways tenants are fighting back in the city and to contribute to the fight for a world where housing is for all.
