Monday, June 15, 6-7pm

Before You Vote, Ask About the Arts...

We invite our neighbors and supporters of the arts to attend the upcoming Forum for the Democratic Candidates running for Federal Congress in District NY-07, scheduled for Monday, June 15, 6-7pm at Culture Lab LIC, Queens.

We will moderate questions about housing, healthcare, and immigration within the context of arts and culture, and we are also gathering questions from constituents.

Candidates Councilmember Julie Won, Assemblymember Claire Valdez, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, and Vichal Kumar have confirmed participation thus far.

This is an opportunity to hear directly from candidates in the context of arts and culture, and for candidates to meet more of our arts sector in the NY-07 district.

Hidden Stories
The Secret Language of Still Life & Floriography

This exhibition situates contemporary still life within its historical lineage, while expanding its language through the parallel framework of floriographyโ€”the coded symbolism of flowers. Historically also used to communicate what could not be spoken openly, floriography offers a subtle yet potent vocabulary of emotion, resistance, and intention. When placed in dialogue with still life, these two traditions reveal a shared capacity for concealment and disclosure.

SEEKING
This exhibition is looking for contemporary still lifes and artists using floral imagery as language in art.

Artists working in 2D and 3D works are encouraged to apply. Film and installation will also be considered.
