📸 THE FUTURE OF PHOTOGRAPHY STARTS WITH WHO WE SUPPORT TODAY.

All week, we’ve celebrated photography’s power to preserve our histories, amplify new perspectives, and shape how future generations understand the world around us.

But that work begins with the photographer.

The En Foco Photography Fellowship provides emerging and mid-career photographers of color with opportunities to develop their practices, gain visibility, build professional relationships, exhibit their work, and take meaningful steps forward in their careers.

This World Photography Week, you can help make those opportunities possible. Your support directly invests in the photographers shaping what comes next.

A photograph can document a life, preserve a history, challenge how we see the world, and inspire the generations that follow.

For more than 50 years, En Foco has supported photographers of African, Asian, Latino, Native American, and Pacific Islander heritage, creating opportunities for artists whose voices and perspectives have too often been overlooked.

Through exhibitions, Nueva Luz, fellowships, community programs, and the Nueva Luz Study Center & Archive, En Foco has helped photographers share their work while ensuring that their images and stories remain part of our cultural record. Because supporting photographers today also means preserving their histories for tomorrow.

This World Photography Week, we celebrate the photographers who have shaped our history, the artists creating today, and the many voices still waiting to be seen.

Happy Puerto Rican Day 🇵🇷

In honor of this day, En Foco is looking into the archives to share with you all. Since 1998, Enid Alvarez has been photographing Puerto Rico as a way of reconnecting with culture, memory, and a sense of home. What began as a personal search has become an invitation for others to pause, reflect and rediscover the places and moments that shape who they are.

These images remind us that beauty isn’t found in perfection. The cracks, imperfections, and quiet details we often overlook are what make a place—and a life—feel real.

Today, we’re celebrating Puerto Rican heritage, resilience, and the powerful connections between people, place, and memory. Through photography, we are reminded that sometimes looking back helps us better understand where we come from and where we’re going.
