60 years of the National Historic Preservation Act! The NHPA has helped protect some of our nation’s most beloved historic sites, including our mid to late 20th century heritage. Docomomo US has engaged in the Section 106 process, a key component of NHPA, for sites including the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Chet Holifield Federal Building, and the Weyerhaeuser Corporate Headquarters. Section 106 and other aspects of the NHPA are currently under threat. As we work in coalition with other preservation organizations we encourage you to speak out in support of NHPA.

It's great to see Judge Cooper upholding the rule of law. We'll be ready for whatever comes next.

A federal judge told center officials at a hearing that he would not approve a plan to inscribe President Trump’s name on the building.

The National Symposium Call for Abstracts is now open!

Docomomo US invites anyone involved in the preservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the Modern Movement to submit to submit an abstract proposal based on the theme, Lonestar Modernism: From Wide Open Spaces to Urban Places.

Abstracts are due by October 18.

Some much needed good news - Miami Marine Stadium had a big win, with voters overwhelmingly supporting a referendum that will move the restoration of the long-shuttered stadium forward.

The next step will be for the selected operator to submit a final plan for construction, operation and management, to be approved by Miami CIty Commission.

This has been a prolonged advocacy effort, many congrats and thanks to Restore Miami Marine Stadium and Friends of Miami Marine Stadium, especially Don Worth, who helped us organize boat tours of the stadium during the 2024 National Symposium in Miami (pictured!)
