Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.

We remember those we lost and hold close the families, friends, colleagues and loved ones who continue to carry their memories.

Here in New York, we join together in remembrance—honoring their lives and keeping their memories close.

Pictured: Fritz Koenig’s The Sphere in the World Trade Center plaza before September 11, 2001. Recovered from the site afterward and relocated to Liberty Park, it stands today as a symbol of remembrance and resilience.

Children have rights of their own. ✊

Lawyers For Children joined leading child advocacy, academic, policy, and religious organizations in filing an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in St. Mary Catholic Parish v. Roy—a case about whether publicly funded preschools can exclude children because their parents are LGBTQ+.

Our brief makes a simple point: children should not face discrimination based on who their parents are. Their rights and interests must be recognized and protected under the law.

🎓 "Use your voice not only when it is easy, but when it is hard."

Last weekend, Lawyers For Children Founder and President Karen Freedman received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from her alma mater, Wesleyan University.

In her remarks, Karen shared the story that led to LFC's founding: when her boss told her she couldn't represent more children in foster care, Karen didn't take no for an answer. Lawyers For Children was born from that conviction.

More than 40 years later, that same determination has helped transform the lives of over 100,000 young people.

Congratulations, Karen, on this extraordinary and well-deserved honor. 💜
