New Orleans Rowing Club

New Orleans Rowing Club The New Orleans Rowing Club is a community rowing club that rows on the beautiful Bayou St. John. As of 2015, NORC is located at the Frederick J.

Formed in 1987, the New Orleans Rowing Club is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization run solely by volunteers. NORC offers novice, club, junior and masters programs in sweep rowing and sculling. King Boathouse on Bayou St. John, at the Vistas Shores Assisted Living Center grounds.

Our newly established NORC Masters Competitive Squad traveled to Masters Nationals with one collective intention: row fast and have fun. wildfire smoke descended onto the race course for 2.5 days of our four day schedule, and things were looking bleak both mentally and environmentally. While we didn’t scratch the surface of the racing we planned on, we were reminded of one specific core purpose of our club: fun.

We pivoted together and made the best of it. Team dinners, museums, antique shops, and indoor pool parties instilled something we knew all along: we are all genuine friends, and we’re in this together. Our club doesn’t yet dominate the record board on a national level, but the constant compliments from other teams about how our club has impeccably good vibes, look cool as hell, and are the kindest on the course is the biggest trophy of all.
