August 28th March on Washington

Interested in standing up for justice for all our neighbors? Once again the National Action Network and the family of Martin Luther King are sponsoring a March on Washington on the anniversary of the historic 1963 March.
A chartered bus will be leaving New Bern late August 27 and returning on August 28. This event is free, though space is limited. The deadline for reservations is August 18. To register, call or email the organizer, Lois Jameson (252- 626-8002 and leave your cell number and e-mail. This will enable her to confirm your reservation and to send updates as we get closer to the departure date. The March is a peaceful, family-oriented gathering of thousands of people on the National Mall. There will be speakers and entertainment during the morning and an opportunity to visit the MLK Center.
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the weather and good walking shoes. Bring sunglasses and hat. Food booths will be available.

Itinerary
August 27th:
​11:30 pm.​Meet at First Missionary Baptist Church: 819 Cypress St., New Bern 28560
​Midnight: Bus departs
August 28th:
We will stop for breakfast prior to arriving at DC.
Projected arrival at DC 6am.
It’s best to pick partner/s to hang with.
Bus driver will give instructions on departure time and location. Bus will depart on time and will not wait.

We are live at Union Point Park getting ready for the Global Music Festival starting tonight from 5 - 8:30 p.m. featuring music from around the world. We’ll have Ethnic Food Trucks and a Wine & Beer Tent set up for folks to enjoy as well.

A big “Thank You” to Taylor Register for coming out to our latest Faith Connection meeting at Christ Church, New Bern and giving an amazing presentation on how important it is to protect our local waterways and the all the different ways they consistently test for water cleanliness.
