A message from our Board Director Ed Koffenberger:
February 2nd, 2026
While the recent winter weather challenged us all, I watched as the weather turned dangerous and people became concerned for themselves and others. This is what I saw.
After the weather projections proved accurate, stories of individual needs started filling the emails. Individual anecdotal stories of hardship and potential future harm circulated along with growing frustration due to lack of information. At the same time, community leaders worked to find ways to assist the greatest number of people during this weather challenge. These leaders conversed with each other, keeping the greater good in mind. Both stories needed to be heard, understood, and incorporated into planning for the near and distant future. Both stories needed greater, on-going communication.
How can we best offer support for all persons even while knowing some will refuse the help and others will use anything to criticize?
The individual and the community – it is a delicate dance. When orchestrated and choreographed before the first note is played for the viewing audience, it is a beautiful thing. When rushed together, there will always be stepped on toes, a struggle about who leads, and hard feelings at a time when the best of humanity had a chance to shine.
In this month of Valentines, Faith Connection is looking for partners to join the dance. People and organizations who wish to join the orchestra of faith with their unique gifts, and dance partners with whom to coordinate steps can create something beautiful and lasting with Faith Connection. Any offering – large or small – financial or sweat equity – adds to the sacredness of service for our known and unknown neighbors.
