What an incredible and historic moment for one of our own! 🇺🇸❤️

American Legion family, please join us in congratulating American Legion Post 434 member and Post 255 Auxiliary member Shirley Ferril, who was officially inducted into the Military Women’s Memorial during her recent Honor Flight visit to Washington, D.C. last weekend.

At 90 years young, Shirley continues to inspire us with her service, patriotism, strength, and dedication to our nation and fellow Veterans. Her story now becomes part of the permanent legacy honoring the courageous women who served in the United States Armed Forces.

This is why we must always honor and celebrate our Legionnaires — not only for their military service, but for the paths they paved for future generations. Their sacrifices, stories, and legacy matter.

Salute to Veterans is more than just one day — it’s a yearlong commitment. 🇺🇸

Yesterday, we had the honor of presenting awards to our Salute to Veterans Grand Marshals:
⭐ Shirley Ferril (2024)
⭐ Tom Crosby (2025)

We don’t just recognize titles — we honor service, sacrifice, and the powerful stories behind them.

Yesterday, February 5th, was especially meaningful… it marked Tom Crosby’s 81st anniversary of being rescued from a WWII POW camp in 1945.

Tom’s story is one of survival, resilience, and strength. After enduring the unimaginable as a child POW, he later chose to join the U.S. Navy to serve the very country that rescued him.

A heroic life lived — and a living history still being shared today.

Let’s continue to honor, listen, and share the stories of our Veterans… not just in November, but all year long. ❤️🤍💙
