Congratulations to one of our scholarship swimmers pictured here! We are so grateful that his parents wanted him to learn to swim and applied for a scholarship!

In the last 21 days, we approved 110 swim scholarship applications - these are families who could not afford swim lessons! Some have children with special needs, and we are so grateful to an anonymous donor who funded 49 special needs children to learn to swim!

These 110 children will be sponsored in part by Arthrex, The League Club, Wildcat Run Charitable Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Cape Coral, FL, Bone Hook Brewery & Restaurant, Collier County Bar Association and other individuals.

These children are from the following cities in Florida:

Naples - 49
Ave Maria - 2
Cape Coral - 15
Bonita Springs - 2
Fort Myers - 12
Lehigh Acres - 13
Estero - 1
Deland - 1
Kissimmee - 4
Lake Worth - 1
Orlando - 1
Tavares - 3 (triplets)
Miami - 3
North Miami - 1
Panama City - 1
Sarasota - 1

At $210 per scholarship, the cost for our Foundation will be $23,100. Our grants and fundraising efforts have been great, but still not enough. The demand is GREAT, and the funds go fast. If you can donate, you will be saving lives!

According to the Department of Children and Families in Florida, so far in 2026, there have been 28 child drownings - 25 were 8 years old and under - 10 were 3 and under! Help us reduce these numbers!

One of our goals is to work with other drowning prevention nonprofits. Today we attended the JACD Just Against Children Drowning Charity Bike Run organized by our dear friend Paul DeMello who lost his twin boys to drowning. The ride was wonderful, his nephew played lead guitar and sang in the band, IHOP provided breakfast and Bert’s Black Widow Harley Davidson provided the venue at Twisted Fork in Port Charlotte.

We also got to spend time with our friend, Judi Cross from Tucker's Promise Foundation who lost her grandson to drowning. She and her volunteers work hard to prevent childhood drowning as well.

Together, we are all working to decrease this trend of rising drownings! Thank you to so many volunteers today!

Drowning prevention doesn’t have a season—but with summer here, it’s the perfect time to elevate awareness and take action.

All month long, we’ll be sharing:
✔️ Resources and tips to celebrate Water Safety Month
✔️ Water Safety Season Toolkit from National Drowning Prevention Alliance
✔️ Education and insights focused on drowning prevention

Our goal is to encourage life‑saving conversations in our everyday lives. Water safety is a lifelong commitment, and as families spend more time around pools, beaches, and waterways, now’s the time to refresh skills, share knowledge, and put prevention front and center.

On Monday, April 20, 2026, our Board President, Terri Barone Ballo and our Board Secretary, Allison O’Reilly attended The League Club Briefcase Breakfast to receive their most generous grant of $10,290!! This grant will pay for swim lessons for 49 children in Collier and Lee Counties!

We want to thank all of their members who work so hard annually to fundraise, especially Lisa Ippito and Molly Markley who interviewed members of our Board and for meeting us at the SafeSplash Swim School - Naples to see where many of our scholarship swimmers receive their lessons!

The League Club is a 501(c)(3) organization of women in Southwest Florida strengthening communities through fellowship, education, volunteerism, and philanthropy. The League Club is open to women who have been or still are active members of a Junior League that is a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International.

We are so honored to be among the 29 amazing organizations who received a grant on Monday totaling $785,651, and we thank The League Club for the second year for saving children from drowning!

Save the Date, Saturday 9/26/26 for Aqua Ball, Lives on the Line at the beautiful Vineyards Country Club! This year’s dance party will include professional line dancers so be sure to wear your dancing shoes to save lives!

We will also have the talented DJ, Robert McDonald from New Beginning Events, Emcee Elyse Chengery from Gulf Coast News and for the first time at Aqua Ball, Professional Auctioneer, Shannon Livingston!

Our Board is honored to give the Annual Life Saver Drowning Prevention Award to Arkeisha Reese, Founder of Team Kareem Memorial Foundation! Her work to prevent childhood drowning is exemplary!

We had a terrific time at our 1st Annual Charity Trivia event at Bone Hook Brewery & Restaurant with Greg of Trivia Tonight with over 50 people in attendance! Greg’s questions are definitely challenging but so fun, especially the music and movie ones! We thank Greg so much for his hospitality and generosity!

We are so grateful to Trish from Bone Hook for her coordination, flyers and hospitality to us before and during the event, and for her donation!

We thank all of our attendees for their generosity with our raffle and donations! We know you had a blast!

And we thank our two amazing Girl Scouts, Sophia and Corrin, who ran our raffle and donations, and Stewie The Duck who is always a hit no matter where he goes!
